Hi, I have considered myself a straight guy all my life. However for the last 3-4 years I have been more and more interested in gay and shemake porn. Very recently I mainly watch gay porn and very rarely straight porn.

I have not done anything with a guy before, but I have had homosexual thoughts when watching gay porn. Does this mean that I am gay/ bi-sexual? Should I act on this and try dating a guy?

The way I'd put it, if you're not getting attracted, interested, or aroused by guys that you meet in real life, then it's closer to a fantasy. The biggest difference between a hetero and non-hetero guy: crushes on guys. When you're gay/bi it's hard not to have/get a crush on someone of the same sex.

Porn doesn't affect sexual orientation, but if you feel curious outside of porn, that is different.

It does I'm afraid. Something you wouldn't find attractive physically, you wouldn't find attractive virtually, visually, mentally etc. Which is what pornography is.

It can be an indicator but it's by no means the best one in the world. Like others have said, the main indicator for sexual attraction is if the thought of a sexual/romantic relationship with someone whether or not they're the same gender is appealing to you. If you're male and you've developed romantic or sexual feelings for someone else who is male, it's a pretty decent indicator that you aren't straight. Porn can make people hot and bothered for a lot of reasons whether it be that you fancy the actors/actresses in the porn itself or if it's more abstract like the concepts the porn uses or even the passion itself that may be expressed in the porn. As an example of how weak of an indicator it can be, there are plenty of women who identify as gay/lesbian but watch mainly gay porn.

Your sexual orientation influences what porn you will enjoy, not the other way around.

That said, just because you find a certain kind of porn interesting doesn't necessarily mean it would indicate your orientation. It could just be a curiosity.

Not for a lot of people it doesn't.

I watch straight porn and I don't find men physically attractive -shrug- But it's different for women. We're mental creatures who watch porn based on how realistic or good the environment is, not who the people are. I could watch porn with two men and enjoy it more than porn with two women as long as the scenery is better. I just dissociate and pretend the men are different genders/have different appearances, etc. Also, I am demisexual when it comes to people, so enjoying porn in general would make no sense for me. I don't find people sexually attractive.

It's probably different for the OP since he's a dude. But for women, porn is like gory horror movies. We can watch gore and have zero interest in killing or torturing another person.

    It's difficult.

I'm saying in my case, I don't watch anything I wouldn't be attracted to or interested in, in real life.

I watch straight porn, because I find straight men attractive. I wish I were a woman or a straight man sometimes.

What's funny, is that although I'm not attracted to women really, I like it when straight men penetrate a women and have sexual penetration with a woman.

I don't like gay anal sex. I won't do it, I won't look at it in porn. I think it's nasty and it doesn't turn me on.
    https://forum.emptyclosets.com/index.php?threads/gay-man-not-into-anal-sex.464213/

I only like gay fellatio and other non penetrating stuff.

So I skip all the gay anal sex parts in gay porn. Or only look at gay porn to where they don't do that stuff.

It's funny that I wouldn't mind it if a straight man did anal sex with a woman in straight porn though. Double penetration scenes especially I like. It's so weird.

    That's just me.

Perhaps in some way maybe it does, last few years I have been watching more gay porn, and have seemed to take more interest in that as well as guys in general, but I first became attracted to guys before I ever started viewing gay porn.

I don't think porn influences sexuality at all. I watch every kind of porn: straight, lesbian, gay and different kinds of kinks. The only thing I'm not into is a girl dominating a guy and boobs kind of turn me off so I don't focus on that. Hasn't really played a part in my sexuality. I've never questioned that I'm into guys and me watching girls in porn hasn't changed that.

I'm bisexual, and I get aroused by straight, gay, and lesbian porn.

Keithmc....It doesn't influence my sexual orientation in any way. I am gay, so I watch gay porn. If I were to watch straight porn I would have to concentrate on the guy or I would puke! ....David

No, no, no. There's zero evidence that porn impacts sexual orientation. If it did, then all the gay boys who watched straight porn to try to become straight would have become straight. And obviously that didn't (and doesn't) work.

Porn can impact things like body type perceptions (generally in a not-healthy way), but not actual orientation. Porn is also a notoriously lousy indicator of sexual orientation for a variety of reasons.

So, OP... the important issue here isn't the porn, but whether or not you genuinely have same-sex attraction or not. While porn isn't a reliable indicator, masturbating without porn (using fantasies you create) is a pretty reliable indicator. In situations like yours, I suggest that people give up porn entirely for several weeks, and practice masturbating without it. For people who have only masturbated with porn, that might be a challenge at first, but with a bit of practice it will become more natural. Once it does, you can experiment and try out fantasies about guys in one session and about girls in another... and see which creates the stronger arousal.

If I were to guess, based on what you've said, I'd guess that there's a pretty good likelihood you have some level of same-sex attraction emerging. This isn't nearly as uncommon as people think. Whether this means you're straight with a tiny bit of attraction to guys, or somewhere on the bi spectrum or leaning toward gay is still to be determined (and may take some time, as the emerging feelings often take a while to fully surface.) But the above tests are a good start. Feel free to report back and perhaps you can get some further clarity.

I know a number of Lesbians who exclusively watch gay porn (men) and would disagree.
