Does it bother you when people say/said 'Yes! I was right. I always knew you were gay' or words to that effect. Do you find it a relief or do you find it a bit condescending?

For me I find it super condescending. Why are people so proud that they had bets with their friends about your sexuality. I just don't get it.

    What do you guys think???

I think people do that in a positive way, like trying to tell you not to worry and they don't think any less of you because they already suspected it anyway. It does sound condescending, but I don't think they mean it that way.

No. As long they genuinely did know/suspect, that just means they don't assume everyone to be straight. If they're lying then I don't see their point ... Maybe to sound better than themselves or not feel bad for assuming straight (?).

I mean, I was very happy when I found out a women I had been crushing on since year 9 turned out when we met at 17 to live near me and have a sexuality able to date me. I mean, I didn't know or guess her sexuality so I guess it's not the exact same but anyway.

My Mom told me that and it didn't bug me at all.

People take offense because a lot of the time it is based on gender stereotypes (playing with barbies/power rangers), but sometimes a mother just knows, even if they have a macho son or girly daughter.

I've never had that happen to me, but I don't think it would bother me much.

Not really. I didn't think I ever made it obvious prior to coming out so whenever someone says that, i just become curious about how they managed to piece it together.

I assume they're trying to be supportive, so I don't let it get to me.

This doesn’t always bother me. If they mean in rudely, then yes, obviously it would bother me! But you know what really annoys me? When they say “I always knew” but don’t say how they knew when you ask them.

My sister said it but that's because despite the fact she's blonde she has a brain and having a sister who reached 19 without ever kissing or showing interest in boys realised that her sister was probably gay. If could also be the fact my sister was a gay boy magnet in college she probably has gaydar

It bothers me just a bit, but I know it isn't meant to be malicious or anything like that. It mostly makes me wonder if the 'straight' persona I have to put on really works.

Doesn't happen to me enough to feel a way about it. If that 'knew' "Congrats" if they don't "Surprise".
