Has anybody else picked up one of these? Aren't they the most fantastic thing ever? I picked up one yesterday and have already played with it for hours. When I get paid on Monday, I'm going back to the store to pick up some more of all different colors and patterns. I love this thing. Greatest. Invention. Ever.
I had one but I lost interest really quickly. If it didn't spin itself for so long it would be more fun. It looked cool online was less cool when I actually had it. Kind of the same way anything I get loses all allure when I actually have it.
I have one and I borrow one my brother has but I mostly dab while using them to make myself the true incarnation of cancer
My hands are always busy. All of my work involves constant use of my hands, and in my free time I run a business from home that also requires my hands to be full and busy (usually with two sets of pliers), so I haven't really had the inclination to pick one up. I rarely have down time, and in my "down time", it seems even then my hands are busy doing something already. Lots of people seem to like them, though.
Your best place to get them is walmart. They're only $5 there, but it seems everywhere else sells them for $10+.
Some of my students use them in class, and I don't mind as long as they aren't a distraction. The metallic hissing sound the spinners make, as well as the visual stimulation the spinners involve distract me while I teach though lol. I think fidget spinners can be a good visual stim, but I prefer my fidget cube and my Tangle Jr.
I have a worry stone too, a super smooth black colored stone with a gold wolf painted on it. I love it. I always have it with me. Worry stones are super calming, and it's a good quiet stim, but sometimes I need to use other things to fidget with. I love textures too, so some of the fidget "toys" I have are textured.
I don't understand the excitement over it. You just hold it between your fingers a spin it. It seems too simple. It does, though, seem like something that could hep you relax in a stressful situation, kind of like a stress ball.
I use to hate them. I got one for myself a few weeks ago, was addicted to it the first few days I got. Haven't messed with it since. I don't know what to think now.
They help people who have difficulty focusing. It can help you keep your mind on your current task. With me for example, I have to keep my hands, eyes, and ears occupied nonstop or I get extremely tense and nervous. With the spinner I'm able to focus. They're a really good investment for people like me, and also those who have ADD.
Fidget toys can be great for people with ASD, ADHD, PTSD, OCD, anxiety, bipolar, SPD, BFRB’s, etc. It’s not for everyone though. I use them at work, and people used to ask me about it a lot lol, but other teachers and my students have gotten used to me playing with pipe cleaners, rubber bands, clicking pens, my worry stone, my tangle, or spinning my ring while I work at my desk, make copies, or sit in meetings lol. I have quite a few students with ADHD, anxiety, and Autism, so they feel safe to fidget and stim in class, as long as it’s not disruptive. But I totally respect that not everyone finds comfort or concentration in using spinners and other fidget toys. I personally don’t have a spinner, even though I’ve got a few other things I fiddle with. I’ve been thinking about splurging on a set of these lately though lol:
