Do you hold hands with your same sex partner in public? Gay couple holding hands is common in the city you live?
Well, I don't have a partner right now but when I did have a girlfriend I was living in California where it was perfectly acceptable. I'm a bit obnoxious about PDA and it was never a problem for me there.
Yeah, California is one of the most accepting places you can go in America. It was definitely not unusual to find LGBTQ people and a large portion of my friend group ended up being LGBTQ as well.
I was going to mention the same thing about California being accepting and safe as far as same-sex PDA. I don’t have a partner right now either, but I wouldn’t feel uncomfortable with holding hands or small kisses on the lips in front of people here in CA. I live in a small, somewhat conservative town, but people generally don’t react negatively to same sex PDA much here in CA. We have students at one of our high schools where I teach who have same-sex parents. I know of one student who has lesbian mothers, and they attend their daughter’s volleyball games where I sometimes sell tickets as part of my adjunct duty, and the two of them kiss, hold hands, and engage in PDA frequently. In larger cities in CA, people are even more comfortable with same-sex PDA...I lived in San Francisco for a few years when I was in graduate school, and it’s definitely a safe place for all things LGBTQ+.
i don't have a relationship right now but i think i would hold hands with my partner.. i don't see why not.. i don't care what everyone thinks..
It is common here in western Washington. For me personally, I have always had a bit of awkwardness with PDA (public displays of affection). This has always had more to do with my awkwardness of being in a relationship than it ever had to do with others observing me. That and.... I never really liked being touched, to be honest. It always made me feel like the person trying to touch me -wanted- something and was trying to manipulate me in some way. Over the years with my partner, Gideon, that has changed and I feel more comfortable with it now than I have ever before in my past. That said? If I lived in a more intolerant area of the world (or even a more intolerant area of the country) I might be more cautious about such things.
