Everytime I go abroad and come back home, it seems the teens have developed a new lingo again. What's about in your country? Are stuffs like "epic fail" still popular?
Ready for the mosh pit, shaka brah.

Surprisingly I don't hear that one as often as I used to. Lately it's been replaced with "take this L".

Something very popular among teens in my country is to put "vole" or "ty vole" in every sentence. Literally it means "you ox" in English. I only use it when I'm very angry at someone, but I know a large number of other teens who use it all the time.

Other than "cringe" I honestly can't really think of anything, excluding a few acronyms

They say "dope" a lot, I'm told. But even I made use of that word frequently when I was in undergrad.

I'm always 100 years behind the newest slang, but I'm pretty sure Lit is still a thing.

Same, sometimes people complain when my friends and I use outdated terms and memes. Apparently we all sound like we're from 2007 (according to some people), and I still quite like some memes from 2011. I don't really get what's so wrong with joking about so called "dead memes" anyway. These things change so often, what's the point in trying to keep up? If we still find it funny, why not? To be honest, I only found out that lit was a thing fairly recently. We do keep up with the more recent ones, like the "We are number one" thing but we still use old ones like Rick Roll. (Never gonna give it up).

I once took a quiz on teenage slang and apparently I'm not cool enough to impress teenagers, even though I am a teenager (Well, 18, but that's still technically a teenager, I mean it has teen in it). Even in secondary school I wasn't fully with it, and people would ask me why I would use outdated slang. I just don't get it really, at the end of the day they're all just words. Well, I suppose I get it in the sense that it gives teenagers the chance to communicate in a way that gives them a sense of culture and an identity outside of their parents.

As for "Epic fail", my parents and I still use it at times, occasionally my friends do. Granted, my friends are almost 20 so not really teenagers (well, just barely).

I'm 17 and I have no idea. I consider myself highly intelligent and I don't really see the need of going around calling everything "lit" or "retarded." Honestly it just sounds stupid to me. There's a reason a lot of people see me as antisocial.

Uhh, my choir students use lit, smol, dabbing, #getrekt, yas, yooo, and stuff like that. I haven't heard "epic fail" for years

I'm a high school teacher, so I hear (and know) quite a bit of the lingo kiddos use these days haha. My students like to say, "That's so extra," or "You're so extra," which is probably their favorite thing to say. They get really excited when I use a slang term they recognize haha. I'm in my twenties, so sometimes I use the same slang words outside of the classroom too haha. Hangry is another one my students and I use on the daily, agro (for agrivated) is another one, and my students haven't yet moved on from "Cash me outside." When I need to talk to a student in the hallway, I'll tell them, "I need to cash you outside," and that's when they know we're going to have a serious powwow about their behavior haha. The slang is fun, but the bad language I dislike. I'm salty (another slang term) outside of the classroom, and I cuss too. But most students need to learn when it's appropriate to cuss, and when it's inappropriate to cuss (like in class) lol.

I remember a time when I couldn't go a day without seeing "took an arrow in the knee" and then came to a sudden realization no one used it anymore. Now it seems "At that moment, X realized X fucked it up" is quite popular.
Ahh slang trend, what a fascinating thing! Do teens also make a lot of Trump references? I hope not!

My students make a lot of Trump references haha. They make fun of Trump all the time. My high school is about 70% Hispanic students, so they love to rag on Trump haha.

Haha, like a support group for people who lack the ability to understand slang. :joy:

Slang survival training - from noob to legend. We would offer you cake, but the cake is a lie. Today's lesson: the ever declining use of epic fail.

@Canterpiece that's hilarious! I wanna join the support group for sure.

I too haven't heard epic fail for a long time but 'Lit' is still a big one as far as I'm aware, when I first heard someone say 'X was lit' I had no idea what they were talking about, I assumed something had caught fire

Huh, I didn't know you could tag users. Yeah I made the same mistake when I first heard the word lit, someone captured this picture of a Pokemon with #lit and I was momentarily confused because it wasn't a fire type.
