I've delt with this all my life. I'm a tomboy. I never grew out of it. Total stranger's have given me weird looks and one lady said I have "man hands". I even had one lady say to me because I had short spikey hair and blonde on the top that I looked bald. I was doing groceries like everyone else. I would never do that to anyone. Just because I don't wear dresses or fitted clothes. I'm just not comfortable with that. Even on my wedding day I had to wear a dress. I wanted to wear a white linen suit. But that didn't happen. It would just be nice if people would keep those comments to themselves. That's my rant for today. Feels good to let it out.

I can't believe people have said those things to you!? I mean my family (mom, dad, siblings) have always been that way with me. Never people in public, etc.
I apologize to you for them!

Its awful. I don't know why people feel the need to do that. Thank you! I wish they would just walk away and be quiet.

You too? My daughter did tell me that I should grow my hair out, cuz I look like a dude but she's at an awkward 11 yr old stage and she was hugging me and giggling when she said it. If that had been someone else I would have been floored!

I know. I'll never grow my hair long. Didn't matter. People still said those things to me. Oh well. I will not let them get to me!

Those people are just ignorant and stupid, dont let them bother you one bit.
Just ignore them, dont let them see that you are in the least bit bothered.
Why did you have to wear a dress on your wedding day if you didnt want to? Do you think you might benefit from doing some work around your self confidence?

I had to wear a dress due to my overbearing mother and sister. I just recently told my Mom that I never wanted to wear a dress. My lack of confidence sometimes is due to anxiety. It's gotten better since taking karate and recently earning my black belt.

Great achievement that is well done.
What did your Mum say when you discussed that with her?
Could she be a bit more supportive and understanding in the future?

She was surprised that I didnt fight for what I wanted. It depends on the day. She's under a lot of stress with my Nana right now. Maybe one day.

I think it is due to their perception of social construction of gender. When they met with someone who doesn't "fit" in their idea, they would make comment about the person. I agree with Poppy43, mostly they do what they do because they are ignorant.

On a positive note, that means you are an interesting person for them to actually notice you :metal:
When they say your short spiked blonde hair makes you look bald, hey, only few girls in the world can pull-off that look (Kristen Stewart, Ruby Rose), it is not for anyone . I never really understand what the fuss about having long thick hair anyway, unless you can't help it due to your geographic location (cold winter and having thick hair keeps you warmer).
