This seems random, but I've been thinking about it a lot lately. I don't like the gendered connotation of carrying around a typical purse, but since I shop for clothes almost exclusively in the women's section, I invariably have little to no pocket space. Not enough to my carry keys, cell phone, and a small wallet, much less the other various "just in case" items that I'm accustomed to having with me when I go out. I've thought about making something that I can wear around my waist but is nicer looking than a traditional fanny pack (or bum bag, as I'm told folks in the UK call them), but I'm kinda stumped as to what that would actually look like. Does anyone have any suggestions for another way to carry stuff?

What about getting a small backpack or shoulder bag?

Jacket with lots of pockets? That's my usual solution.

I carry a messenger bag with an extra long strap. Cross body, it hangs down at my hip. From my shoulder it hangs nearly to my knee. I've never once had anyone mistake it for a purse.

Sling bags are also very convenient.

I saw guys walking around with bags that look like this: 41n-6qJATcL._SX355_.jpg

But it's more sporty than elegant.

I second a messenger bag or when I was younger I'd always use a drawstring bag like the post above. Simple and easy.

I actually have a beautiful skirt with pockets. But I can't wear it with EVERY outfit.

I need a messenger bag type thing too sometime.

You can get really flat or "invisible" fanny packs that go around your waist or wrist. I use one sometimes and they can hold a surprising amount of stuff without being bulky. There are also some hoddies that have big pockets, but make sure it has zippers just in case stuff falls out

Messenger bag or small backpack does it for me. But then I need something to accommodate my tablet or work laptop anyway. ^^

I have some shorts by Lee Riders brand that have good pockets, both front and back. I can fit my cell phone, wallet, change, and small stuff like that in my pockets just fine. Idk what all you have in the UK but i would shop around with shorts/jeans/etc and find a brand that has good pockets. Otherwise, i've seen people using what i think is called drawstring backpacks. I see some people who have wallet phone cases, but i think these are usually marketed for women moreso than men. I myself prefer to just have everything in my shorts pockets if i can, cause i honestly don't carry enough to warrant even having a small purse most days. I don't even wear makeup. I consider myself bigender so this is something i've put a lot of thought into, plus i'm a cashier so i see what people in my community use.

I have a purse but hate going around with it. A small sling bag on my back does the trick for me
