it's like someone who has finished their transition talking to someone younger who is just starting, and then near the end. both of them singing together the words "this is not the end of me, this is the beginning"

- "Part of me" (Katy Perry) > it's actually about a relationship that ends, but… the video. I don't interpret it actually in a "gender identity" sense, but in a "gender expression" sense. In the video, she stays a woman, but she finds her way to be a woman (really masculine) [the poster: All women are created equal, then some become marines]. Often (usually hetero) relationships stop people from expressing themselves outside the gender norms.

Like other songs listed here, this is not specifically about being transgender, but it has a strong lyric. It's my favourite song, and I listen to it every time that I need something to boost my mood.

Ah, I'm tired of being seen as a girl by my relatives. I'm trying to tell: "Please don't talk to me about being a woman" but it's like protesting to a wall. I can only say: "It makes me anxious/ill" but they don't take it seriously because they don't know the reason. Not many metal songs that deal with LGBT issues but this is why Ronnie James Dio is one of the greatest. I think this was considered more of a gay song but i just relate to this so much.

I believe the lyrics to this song(and some others on Balls to the Wall) were written by Wolf Hoffmann's wife Gaby "Deaffy" Hoffmann. The whole album has a gay vibe and it was somewhat of an issue in the states at the time. The band was tying to be a bit controversial and Kauffmann has stated that this song is about gay people but it's basically about people who are suppressed.

 

Basically any songs about being true to yourself or realising your inner potential speak to me as a trans person.

 

The Tiny Rick Song from Rick and Morty. When I listened to the lyrics, I could never view the episode in the same way again...

The Visible Men's "Blow Shit Up". Quiet song, but so much emotion. Can be interpreted as a trans person's refelction on being called crazy by the cis-tem.
