I just found out that a friend of mine passed away. She passed away because she had a heart attack. They b3lieve that this was caused because her hormones were unregulated and she was not having regular bloodwork done to check her hormones.

Hormones, while an important part of transition for many, are also dangerous. It is important to have the correct dosage and even more important to have the correct bloodwork done ti make sure that you are not having complications.

While this is an extreme case, there are other health problems that can be caused. Strokes and heart attacks and blood clots are the big ones. Any of these can leave you with lifelong complications or they could lead to death.

She never thought that this would happen to her. It did though. Just because you think something is going to happen to you does not mean that it will not happen to you.

I hope she rests in peace, and I know she will be missed

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.

This is heartbreaking on so many levels. I can understand how people who experience extreme dysphoria and feel there's no other option for them resort to dangerous and unregulated medications, self-dosing, and no proper medical care, and yet... I really don't think people understand how, in the best of circumstances, hormone replacement therapy is basically throwing a sledgehammer at a very delicate endocrine system, which is why having a knowledgeable physician to monitor care is so important.

And... people always believe the risks and consequences will never happen to them. So sad.

    Sorry for your loss.

I had such a case too. He wasn't trans but tried to gain more muscle with that. He got bad stuff and died from it.

Even I wouldn't play with that. And I did a lot of shit.

I don't know what to say because many words now would sound like empty phrases. But you do have my condolence, losing someone always hurts. But you know, the ones who loves us never really leave us. And since she has friends whom remember her and love her I bet she found peace.

Thanks everybody. It's really sad that this was how she had to go. She had been told by her doctor that what she was doing was dangerous, but she ignored it. Sadly, a week later this happened.

Wow. I'm really sorry for your loss. I hope this makes some people reconsider going on hormones without a physician's guidance, or self-medicating with anything, really. I am not trans, but I do have to take medication for my mental health. Years ago, the idea of self-medicating with drugs was extremely tempting, but I resisted the temptation. Now I'm seeing a psychiatrist, and I get regular blood work done. I can see how someone could be tempted to use hormones on their own, especially if they have bad dysphoria, but please, please don't do it. Waiting until you can get a physician who will monitor you will be worth it. Don't think that it can't kill you, because it can.

May your friend rest in peace and kudos for your excellent advice
Self Medicating is NEVER the correct answer.
