A guy I met on one of the apps. I have already had one hookup but I am actually way more excited about this. we've exchanged a couple of messages and he's really cute and seems nice.

It's hard to believe one year ago I was on this site trying to convince myself I am not gay, terrified of being sexually attracted to men and convinced that it was impossible to be romantically attracted!

    It went great!
We met for a drink and decided to have dinner. We hit it off really great. Only down side is he's not looking for a relationship wanted to hook up but I told him I wasnt' ready for that yet. I think I might have just mentioned relationship too soon and that might have made the evening a little awkward but we still flirted. After dinner we walked a little and when I was turning off to go home he gave me a long kiss on the lips.

I melted! I have never felt such electricity all these years kissing girls. OMG! THIS is how it feels! It was in public too, I have to admit it was a little thrilling. I wouldn't have the courage to do that everywhere but this was Chelsea  I have had a hook up but this felt even more real and more intense. It was last night and I am still on cloud 9.

He's not looking for an LTR but he might be a potential FWB. Though one fear I have is getting too emotionally attached - my feelings for men are way more intense I also realize the pain can be a lot more real too.

FJ good for you. Isn't it incredible to feel that electricity , to know that being gay is who you are. That liking men as emotional and sexual partners is absolutely normal. I find being able to be openly gay is a heady experience. For me it hasn't gotten old. I wish success as you journey towards who you really are. Relax and enjoy.

Yes! I have never experienced anything like this or been on any forum or group where the experiences are so similar. It's also amazing to see that our coming out patterns and feelings, while all unique have such a similar trajectory.

Going back to the early days - when someone here suggested that I go to the mirror and say 'I'm gay" I thought it was a waste of time. What was that going to prove? I did it and had the most incredible rush of emotion I have ever experienced.

Very similar experience when I honestly looked into the mirror and saw a gay man looking back. It was such a rush that I knew then and there I had to embrace my homosexuality openly and honestly. I am still on that path.

Oh I'm so happy for you!!!

About the idea of getting too attached...others likely have different advice but I had the same worries when I met my current girlfriend. At that point it was pretty much a guaranteed heartbreak (that's changed now, our circumstances are totally different now), but I decided, I don't care. I want to feel the emotions, i jumped in head on and decided the heartbreak was worth it.

You do what's right for you. Be careful with your heart if that's what you need, sometimes it's good to pace yourself. But if you feel like jumping in, just be honest to yourself about the risk of heartbreak.
