Yesterday was Day of Silence. I did it, and it was actually really fun. I got to hang out with some of my LGBT friends, met some new people I didn't know. My teachers weren't happy, but since it's a school event supported by Gay-Straight alliance they couldn't do anything about it. It was a rather funny way to come out to some more of my friends. I had a few conversations that went like this: "Hey dude!" "..." "What's up?" "..." "Why aren't you talking?" *points to day of silence badge thing* "Wait, your gay?" "..." "I thought you had had a girlfriend!" "..." "Your explaining this later..." "..." So now I have to go through some more awkward questions but it's all in good fun. How was all of your Days of Silence? Did you mange to shut up for 24 hours straight? (I didn't). Thanks for reading and have a nice day! :smilewave
I didn't do it. I didn't even realize it was day of silence. Actually, I couldn't do it, even if I wanted to.
You guys should all go to your school and see if you can get them to recognize Day of Silence! Its a great step towards having your school be open towards LGBT topics!
I tried... I wore the badge and everything, it's a pretty big thing at my school... but I caved during lunch because I can't be silent all day xD I'm too reliant on talking!
I can't shut up either :roflmao: I did Day of Silence when I got home too, partially to P.O. my unaccepting parents ---------- Post added 22nd Apr 2017 at 12:22 PM ---------- I know, my mind just connects things I used to be quiet, until I decided not to be :roflmao:
I did the day of silence! One conversation went a bit like this- "Why aren't you talking?" *points to badge thing* "What is that?" Then I gave the badge to them to read. "Oh! So you only talk to gay people?" *shakes head* "YOURE GAY???" Then another girl in my class butted in to say "no of course she isn't!" Pfffft they didn't even give me a chance to say yeah, I am!! Lmao. Oh and I was ALMOST able to stay silent for the entire 24 hours, but someone decided to play "Toxic" by Britney Spears at lunch and I couldn't help myself.
I did not. I'm not comfortable outing myself yet to the class, plus It's a small class. But I respect you for doing so.
I did Day of Silence at my school, and it was pretty interesting, I havn't come out, and there were a lot of "Are you gay or something" questions, it was quite funny actally
Me and a few of my friends did it, and a few other people as well. It was great; I wasn't asked any weird questions, because I'm out and go to a pretty accepting school.
