    Hey all

Have been wanting to buy and wear female perfumes for a while now... However I am extremely shy and buying perfume as AMAB who is in closet and has to express himself as a man sends my anxiety reflexes twitching.

Should I use self-service, get a female friend who I'm out to to buy it, or just buy it anyway and be cool?

    Probably really obvious answer lol

    Cheers

    Peace & Blessings

Do what makes you feel comfortable, but if you buy it yourself people will either not notice, or assume you're buying it for your girlfriend.

Yeah, I agree with this, alot of people will just assume you're getting it for someone else. Don't worry about what other people think, if you end up going in person to buy it. Good luck

Most people will assume you're getting it for someone else but if you're like me and have really bad anxiety over such things you could always buy it around the holidays. I bought a ton of makeup this past xmas for example.

Cheers for quick response. Yeah I suppose people aren't going to assume you're non-male just for buying perfume not explicitly for yourself lol

Might just use self-service for now though.

    Peace

If anyone is interested (may be talking for my own gratification lol) I almost bought a women's fragrance today, picked one out I had tried and liked... then quickly changed it for some random men's fragrance I rushed myself through the counter.

Ah well, never bought perfume before, this is a step in the right direction

Buy it anyway. People will think it's a gift for your girlfriend.

I agree, it's not uncommon for men to buy perfume for their girlfriends. Besides, the cashiers will have had hundreds of customers, so they wouldn't really bother to remember what you bought or label you. Maybe you could try to go to a busier shop to be more inconspicuous.

    Good luck.

Perfume is one of the most common gifts that men but for their girlfriends/wives. No one will bat an eyelash. And if they do... Why does it matter? That person's judgment of you has no bearing on who you are.

One thought though... 'Wearing perfume' and 'incognito' don't go together. If you are wearing perfume, people will notice. Whether they will notice it's a woman's fragrance... Perhaps not. But it will be noticed at some level.

As a cashier, i can attest to the fact that most cashiers on self checkout aren't going to pay that close of attention to what you're buying especially if you buy several other items with it. As long as you don't buy something that's going to be age restricted (like cold medicine, car stuff, cigarettes) then the cashier might not even notice. Especially if its busy. Worst come to worst just say its for your girlfriend or sister or something, if you're embarrassed and they ask. The smaller sized ones - travel size, technically - will be easier to hide in an armful of other items.

You can do it! I've been buying aftershave etc for myself for years and although I'm shy and socially awkward I've never had any issue with it.
Besides I don't really care what the shop peeps think I love JPG L'Homme and Lynx products

Btw the way if you find a scent you like using testers in a shop you could always buy it online once you get home.

You should try some sweet men fragrances like Dior Sauvage / Paco Rabanne Invictus / Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit De L'homme or Jean Paul Gaultier L'homme.
I personally own Sauvage and Invictus and they both smell great and are pretty sweet for men fragrances.

  13. I'm AMAB as well and I've been feeling the same way. In fact, every time I go to a local CVS/grocery store with a family member, I always tell them not to get the generic men's fragrance for any body wash/deodorant as I think they all smell like tooth paste and wet dogs. I've never really had the guts to ask for women's fragrances but maybe one day I will.

If you ever do buy some perfume and put it on, just own it! I'm sure you'll smell great, and who cares if people judge you? Besides, I doubt anyone will really mind.
