I thought the ad was very cheesy and fell flat; It could have been more unique. I also thought it was funny how SJWs were angry at the video more than the right-leaning people even though Pepsi said on Twitter they were trying to please the SJWs.
I love (Diet) Pepsi, but hiring Kendall Jenner for one of their ads? Yeah, no thanks. I'm surprised a big corporation is so blind that they didn't know this ad would be controversial. Having a privileged pretty white female be commentary on the issue of police bias/race issues wasn't going to win them any points with progressives/liberals, and conservatives hate when corporations take a political stand that's anything close to liberal/progressive/leftist. It's just going to turn consumers on each side off. I can't believe Pepsi was so stupid in their approach to this; you'd think huge corporations would hire ad executives who know better.
I liked the message of unity it had to it but at the same time, I also realize that there were a ton of issues with the commercial both fundamentally and conceptually which makes it incredibly hard to take seriously. I still don't find it particularly rage inducing though. on a side note though, did you mean to have that giant pun there?
I think it's really stupid that people are getting offended over it. Sure, it was cringey, but I just don't like the growing culture of people getting offended by everything. PepsiCo didn't mean any harm, so unless they're going out of their way to be disrespectful, we all need to chill.
I don't think people are truly offended, it's just that the ad came off as tone-deaf and patronizing. Obviously, people were going to notice and comment.
I think that's really fucking pathetic that pepsi decided to change their ad because the social justice warriors cried their eyeballs out over it. Seriously I don't like social justice warriors and I don't think they should get their way because I think they are so demented.
Either get political or don't. Lame, half-assed move on Pepsi's part. It's 2017 and you think "Join the conversation," is going to do anything? I'm not particularly upset at this, myself, though I understand why this annoyed some people.
I think Kendall Jenner has never been to a protest in her life. Colbert did an excellent deconstruction of it. I would not call if offensive, but Pepsi was right to pull something that embarrassing. It never should've been made in the first place.
Yes, I think that was the main issue with the ad; using Kendall Jenner as the vessel for commentary on a hot button social issue. It's not offensive, just embarrassing and lacking self-awareness.
Social Justice Warriors have brought so much hate to the LGBT community. They completely destroyed the entire trans community, and since they have all the power in the trans community, nobody dares disagree with them. I honestly feel bad for PepsiCo, because they really tried to please them, but you can't really make that group of people happy. SJWs are just such negative, mean, bigoted people. I just can't stand for their hateful ideology.
Um i haven't really had an opinion well actually I do have an opinion. I think that the ad wasn't bad but wasn't good either. Like others mentioned, fell flat for me, pun intended cuz if you leave a Pepsi sitting out for a few hours it does go flatter than any other soda. I don't like the Jenner girl. Don't care, kind of boring. Could have been better. Don't know. *shrugs and awkwardly flies away*
