North Korean ballistic missile fired into the Sea of Japan - BBC News

As President Trump is due to meet Chinese Premier Xi Jinping, North Korea fires another missile into the Sea of Japan.

President Trump says the US will deal with the North Korean threat with or without China, so where is this increasingly tense situation heading? Will China increase the pressure on North Korea? Will it make a difference?

How do you solve a problem like North Korea?

Nip it in the bud before they actually develop something they can use. China needs to get on board.

Though what does nipping it in the bud look like? If it means launching strikes, that sacrifices every political prisoner in North Korea and, if it doesn't destroy the entire nuclear arsenal, likely several million South Koreans.

Play the waiting game to see what North Korea will do. Keep watch and make sure they don't send missiles over here in the meantime. If China refuses to help stop North Korea from doing practice drills, then maybe they are in on it also. The only thing the U.S. can do is, watch and wait. I do not want the United States to go to war with North Korea. If we have to, I hope it's on their soil and not over here.

What do you think will happen if we do nothing?

North Korea's missiles are not nearly advanced enough to hit the mainland USA before being shot down *unless some crazy help is given to them* even if they keep developing them. so i am not worried for my safety, but Russia,China, And Japan/Korea have allot to worry about. If North Korea attacked first then China would most likely go against North Korea, China would not really want to attack its market would it?
Fight the US, Japan, and South Korea there goes the world economy. Even if the US attacks first theirs a possibility china would take our side even if politically, Not to mention most of the UN hates North Korea. Either way it would be bloody, the only way i see peace is a military coup honestly. Which is sad but most likely the most peaceful solution to this conflict.

While the article mentions the missile traveled 40 miles, it was intended to go much farther. The launch was a failure. It was the equivalent of shooting a gun and having the bullet just fall out the end of the barrel. Still, other countries have a right to be concerned, because the North has had successful launches before.
