My original idea was to go with David as a middle name, but I am not sure I'm keen on that anymore. Here were some more ideas, and I wanted to get your take on it, keeping in mind my first name is Alec: Joseph/Yosef James James Benedict Shiloh Jeremiah/Jeremi Simon Mathison Henry Lewis Charles I like traditional English names and also Biblical names (or derivatives). Also names that symbolize hope. Feel free to add more suggestions.
My favorite is Joseph I also like James and Mathison. My suggestions are Emmanuel, Ezekiel, Matthias, Peter, Sebastian and Tobiah. Also St Jude Thaddeus is the patron saint of hope so I guess Jude or Thaddeus could be used to symbolize hope.
How many syllables is your last name? That would help me decide. But without knowing, I like Joseph, Henry and Lewis.
I agree with Ricky, the number of syllables would probably make my decision easier. I'd go with a longer middle name if your last name has one or two syllables, if it's a longer last name (3+ syllables) I'd probably chose a short middle name. Without knowing I'd go with Joseph, Jeremiah or Lewis.
I like Joseph, Mathison and your first idea, David, best if it's in combination with a sample "H, two syllables"-surname. I wouldn't go for a second name which also starts with h.
I personally like Alec James H. or Alec Mathison H. or Alec Jeremiah H. Good luck finding a middle name.
I particularly like the name Elijah. To be honest i should probably come up with a more masculine middle name for myself. My middle name is Marney
Charles sounds very refined and confident in my opinion, but to be honest your whole list looks wonderful.
This may be rehashing a bit, but I was mulling over ideas for my middle name and I didn't want to start a new thread for the same topic. See, i love the name Peter but my last name ends with -er so it sounds a little off if that is my middle name. However if I combine it with Odell, my father's middle name, we get Alec Peter Odell [last name]. Or maybe I am over thinking? I just really wanted Peter to work. I do like Joseph as well, but it almost has too much of a religious feel to it for me and I have two brothers with very similar names.
I like the idea of Alec Peter Odell H. Maybe because I've done the same. Theodore is a name that has meaning for me and Anthony is a name that my mum would have chosen (and it's also my dad's middle name). Anthony ends in y like my last name, so I made my name Samuel Anthony Theodore H. Odell is a good name to add. The whole name flows quite nicely.
My favorite biblical names are Isaiah, Nehemiah, Elijah, and Ovadia. As evident by this, I prefer longer names, if this works for you.
I have no idea how middle names work, but Yosef sounds really cool with your first name, so I'd go with that personally.
How often does a person use/say their full name (first, middle and last)? If you like the name Peter, which is nice, use it. I think it could work whether you use it by itself or with Odell (Peter-Odell).
I personally like Henry. Mainly because Henry VIII is my 2nd favourite king but also because I think Alec Henry has a nice flow.
