Numbers 1,2,4,5,6 and 7 work for me, too. I would also add the following:

My work colleagues, and my continued love of my job and of my workplace

A popular social networking site, which I have only recently joined

    Writing poetry

    Walking in the Peak District

My best gay friend, who I met after I came out.

Totally with you on the chocolate.

I'll add, completely absorbing myself in work. But I do like my job.

I think we all need to have a chocolate and wine party

Well some of mine might be skewed a little to gay women but I'll put them on here too in case other people are interested as well:

In terms of Facebook feeds, it depends on how comfortable you are outing yourself on Facebook. There are tricks to keeping the feed slightly more private, these are the ones I follow-

    The Advocate
    Pink News
    Unicorns Booty
    LGBTQ Nation
    Huffpost Queer Voices
    Autostraddle
    Eliel Cruz
Bi: Notes for a Bisexual Revolution
George Takei sometimes posts LGBTQ stuff
    After Ellen

    Ok continued

In terms of podcasts, I'm having more trouble finding good quality Ines to listen (sound quality more than anything).

I liked Strange Fruit but they aren't making new episodes at this point
if you have Spotify you can see Ted Talks has a category called Love Wins
There is some coverage of LGBTQ issues here and there in Stuff Mom Never Told You (they just stopped making new episodes too!)
You can hear some great interviews with prominent LGBTQ artists/celebrities in various podcasts, including Fresh Air and WTF Marc Maron, I love the interviews with Ian McKelllan, he's a legend

If anyone else has better suggestions for podcasts, let me know, I'm always looking!!

Films and shows are ones I try to catch too, anyone have any queer film/show suggestions?

Thanks for listing these out! Great suggestions. They also gave me ideas for where to hunt. I'll add more to the list if I come across anything interesting.

Laughed way harder than I should at this. I would also like to put Vodka on my survival kit.

    1. You guys for sure. EC has been this amazing community where I can go in and no matter how horrible my life is becoming there are always people who have it worse and need comforting.

    2. My cat. He's an asshole but I love him and he does comfort me when I'm sobbing.

    3. Videogames. Videogames is like my music.

    4. Foo Fighters. I don't know why but I connect with their lyrics so much better than any of the lgbtq stuff. Maybe it's cause I'm weird I dunno.

    5. Quoting Obama saying that the 'sun will rise and a new day will always come through'. It's like my own personal mantra.

Anyone have any good movies for lgbtq?

Great tips, I need these right now. Every bit helps!

My best friend and her husband are my rocks and their house and their pub are the only places I can be me properly. I did have one person in the pub get upset when he realised I was gay but she chucked him out before I did!

I have a couple of lesbian friends too but no male gay friends.

I found the "Gay Outdoors Club" online and am going out for a country walk with them next Sunday and my labrador is welcome too yay!

Most other gay men I have met have just wanted sex.

Sorry for the useless post but this thread is helping (*hug*)(*hug*)

Hey baristajedi, I really appreciated this post

I felt like taking a break from the site for a while but I guess I'm back now, I enjoyed reading about what was inside your survival kit!

I definitely need one - lots of great and inspiring ideas in this thread  - wish I had some gay friends, or just knew more gay people.

I agree music is really powerful actually, since joining EC I've definitely started listening to things I would never have normally, I do wish I could get access to your spotify playlists though!

Part of me wonders how I'd feel if I just shut myself off from older music I used to listen to, just for a short while - and try new stuff, maybe for a few weeks and see how it makes me feel.
