I'm a big model Railroad fanatic and I wondering if there are any like minded individuals around. Maybe we could form an informal club or something,
I'm a HO scaler myself (recent convert from O). Now tell me, do you have a permenant layout, also what's your favorite Railroad (if you have one).
Can't afford to get into it. I would love to though. Saw Tornado and fell completely in love. I may not have a railroad, but I really want that loco.
Hi Will, I have got 7 engines and 39 cars. They are all related to Minnesota lines either past or present. Prob my favorites are the DM&E (Dakota Minnesota and Eastern) now part of the Canadian Pacific Railway or the DMIR (Duluth Misabe and Iron Range) which is still in use today. Misabe is one of the iron mining area's of northern Minnesota. I haven't got a proper layout, just a track I built about 8 feet up and all around my living room. I did build a n scale layout for my brothers son for Christmas a few years ago, turned out pretty good.
Hi Johndeere3020, I also am fan of mining railroads, although My favorite road is the Pennsy considering I live in the heart of old PRR country. I have an M1a steam locomotive and enough boxcars to make up a consist. As I recently converted from o scale, I don't have much in the way of HO equipment at the moment.
I live next to the first line that ran West through Minnesota, it is still in use today by Canadian Pacific. Pretty awesome to hear the big engines roar! Check out ebay, lots of pretty good ho stuff and better $ than buying new!
I used to be really into model railroading when I was in early middle school. As a matter of fact, I had liked trains and railroads for much of my life at that point. I never really had ample room to set up a static display or place to work with them to be displayed, so I didn't really get to stay with it and have a lot of fun. They sit in the basement of one of my family member's now. They're HO scale. Interestingly enough, other family members of mine owned O scale many years ago. They sit along with my HO scale items as well. It's a hobby that I would like to invest in again one day, given that I'll have more room and knowledge.
