Do you prefer hard or soft water, or do you avoid it alltogether?

    Confused.

That said, I prefer soft water for washing dishes, clothes and showers since soaps work better if they're not first attaching themselves to harmless mineral ions and wasting themselves and causing us to use more soap, but for drinking I am a fan of mineral water (preferably carbonated), which is basically hard water.

But isn't all water soft unless it's ice?

I prefer the water I'm used to, which is hard water. I can often taste the difference between that and soft water or other kinds of hard water. But it's really not a big deal.

I try to avoid buying bottled water a lot, I guess. That's the strongest opinion I have on water.

I once stayed in a house in Somerset, and the water was soft, which I found unpleasant to shower in. So I'd say I prefer hard water, but I don't care too much.

We in the south-east of England get very hard water. Only the far North-East of England, West Wales and the West Country get soft water. Something to to with the calcium carbonate content.

I grew up with well water (hard water) so I'm used to it, but since I moved to the city for university, they have soft water which I prefer drinking as opposed to hard water. Other than that, I don't care.

The water that comes out of my sink...? I don't know which it is.

I guess it's hard water, because the water at my grandparents' house is totally different and seems "soft" somehow, and I don't like their water very much...

Also my dad installed a machine to one of our sinks that apparently "purifies" the water or something, and I prefer the water from the other sink.

I just hate that well water with that weird feeling to it. Not quite sure what kind of water that is, or how to describe that feeling

I don't really care, because I don't drink water, unless I'm really thirsty after excercise. I hate the taste of it and I can't even get down more than two gulps, before I feel like kind of throwing up... So, can't really anwer to that question

Depends on the source. Where i live now, the well water is really nice, but ive seen others that smell of dissolved sulphurous compounds, and ive also seen water that has soo much iron in it, smells like metal, and tastes like blood to the point a vampire could live off of it.

It was my understanding that "hard water" is universally seen as an imperfection; under what circumstances would it be preferable to "soft water"?
