Hello, fellow queer people! Recently I have discovered the Myers-Briggs type indicator (or MBTI), a questionnaire that indicates a certain four letter personality type. I have been wondering what possible correlation there would be with MBTI and sexuality? As you may know, I am an INFP (introverted intuitive feeling perceiving), and panromantic/pansexual. You can take the free test here!: Personality test based on C. Jung and I. Briggs Myers type theory
There's no known correlation between any of the Myers-Briggs personality types and sexual orientation. There are some types that are more common than others, but these don't correlate with orientation, nor (from anything I've seen) are LGBT people prone to any particular MBTI in any greater frequency than an ordinary population sample.
I'm INTP and asexual. I know there's no correlation there though, given that most other INTPs I have met have been either very heterosexual or very homosexual.
What Chip said. As far as we know, there are no proven correlations between Myers-Briggs type and sexuality. To my knowledge, polls online have shown that asexuals are largely INXX, although I strongly suspect that the results are skewed (internet polls, as always, have a limited and biased sample size). I have not come across other polls relating MBTI to sexuality. Obviously, this also involves the possibility that the theory behind MBTI is not fully understood, or the usual problems encountered when seeking to identify with a label. This would lead to a misrepresentation in the results. For the sake of contribution, my MBTI type is INTP, and my sexuality is asexual.
INTP here. I've discovered this test six months ago. I was pretty fascinated about how it worked, doing research and everything. Now... not so much.
I am INTP and out of the three other INTPs I've met, one is homosexual but heteroromantic, one is lesbian, and one is very straight. And I am pansexual. I think some types would be more "susceptible" (for lack of better word) to being gay but it's not enough to really conclude anything.
There is really no correlation between myers briggs types and orientation . ENFPs tho are usually placed in the category due to stereotypes which is annoying ....... a gay ENFP here
