I'm new to using eye drops.

I've just started using eye drops for about a week.

The problem is I keep accidentally touching the tip of the bottle.

What tips and tricks do you folks use to not touch the tip of the bottle ?

Don't hold it so close to your eye. It's that easy.

    Here's what I do:
    -tilt head back
    -hold bottle in right hand
-use middle finger to pull lower lid down
-use left hand fingers to pull eye lid up
-hold bottle over eye. NOT CLOSE
-look towards the top of your head. don't stare at tip
    -squeeze drop into eye

Look in the mirror, pull the bottom lid open a bit to make a cup and squeeze the drop into the "cup" and then close your eye. The solution will get where it needs to go.

I've recently had to moisturize my eyes everyday for a few times each day.

The optometrist gave me some some sample bottles of eye lubricant.

I've also bought a few bottles of lubricant.

For the last 7 days, I accidentally touched and had to throw away four bottles of lubricant; mainly out of carelessness .

From now on, every time I put drops in my eye, I'm going to imagine that I'm handling poisonous snakes; so I will be much more careful.

Kind of difficult to describe but I find that resting the "heel" of the hand that is holding the bottle against my chin allows me to align the dropper with better control than if the whole hand is free floating in the air. Easier to judge the distance. Also very much recommended to wash your hands before this.
