A quick update on Maxx

    I haven't logged on to EC for quite a while. I'm sure most of you don't know who I am, but I was a very active member of EC from 2012 to about 2014 or so. I came out at the ripe old age of 50, was married to a woman (no kids) and drew enormous support and comfort from the many fine people on this forum (in fact without this forum it is likely I wouldn't have ever come out).

    I met my partner shortly after coming out and moved in with him about a year later (3 years ago). We were just in France on vacation and as we sailed along the Seine, just in front of the Eiffel Tower, I asked him to marry me. He said Oui! We are now planning the wedding for next September.

    The reason I logged on today is I was feeling so grateful for the change I've been able to make in my life, thanks to the tremendous support and compassion shown by so many others, especially on EC. To have thought that I could have come out, let alone find and then marry an amazing man, was just such an impossible thought just a few short years ago that I am in awe of the difference EC has made in my life.

    So for those that are wondering if there can be a hopeful future after coming out later in life, I gratefully say yes - thanks to the good souls here and the realization that we are not broken, we do not need to be fixed, we simply need to trust ourselves to live our own truth.

    So pleased for you! I have been out for 18 months now, separated from my husband for a year. I am still looking to find my special someone, and stories like this give me much-needed hope!
