I've been on this forum occasionally to look at posts. I figured that I should make an account here so I could join in as well.

    Basically a little bout me:

I'm a junior in high school. Only some people know of my real gender identity, but most know about my sexual/romantic identity. I've tried coming out to my parents about myself, but they don't understand and say I'm too young. I'll tell them again soon, probably in college.

I go by Vincent, and my nicknames are Vi and Vince. I don't feel super comfortable sharing my real name on the internet though.

I'm just going to lurk on here, and have fun while I'm at it.

Anyway, how have you all been?

Hello Vincent! Welcome to EC! It's a shame that people have trouble comprehending that we can understand our gender identity and sexual orientation at younger ages. I'm sorry that you are having to deal with that kind of ignorance. Please try not to let it confuse you on your journey to self-discovery.

Thank you so much! I 100% need the support now too!

I'm in my school's National Forensics League, and they tend to make jokes about 'assuming our genders?!' and it's really quite annoying. *sigh*

    Thanks! xP

Does your school have a Gay-Straight Alliance or and LGBTQ Club?

    Not that I know of.

My school's pretty accepting [generally], but I've never heard of a club at my school like that.

    And thanks, killswitch0029.

You might want to check it out. Normally the school office/administration has a list of all authorized clubs and organizations at the school.

If there is a GSA or LGBTQ club, you might consider joining it, but the main reason I asked is that one of the reasons for having such clubs is to educate people about LGBTQ issues and (if such a club exists at your school), you may want to suggest that they organize some type of education campaign about gender identity for your school.

    Just a thought.

Huh. That sounds super appealing. If the school doesn't have one, I'll probably ask to create one myself.

    Thanks! I appreciate it.
