So my 8-9 year old Asus is dying and I need a new laptop. I really like the Asus and I would definitely buy one again, but I'm also kinda considering a Mac. I've been told that netbooks are shit but I also find them appealling. All I need out of a laptop is Office, USB, and the ability to run Photoshop and The Sims.

    Any advice?

If that's all you need, something like an Acer Aspire would work.
They range from about $600 - $1500 AUD, depending on the model.

Of course, the higher-end models would be able to render the burning kitchens better than the cheaper ones.

The Aspire One series would be a 'netbook'.

The Aspire V 15 looks about right. It's around $800 USD, or 83,000 JPY.

If that's too much, there are lower range models, such as the Aspire E 5.

Alternatively, there are laptops such as the Dell Inspiron or the Asus F541.

The reason I'm suggesting Acer first is because I've had two in the past, and they run pretty nicely.

    Hope this helps.

MAAACCCC. They're the best and last forever. Mine's going on almost 10 years, and even though it's kind of on the fritz right now, it runs like a champ. A little slower, but nothing compared to the way my PCs used to crap out after 4 years.

They're expensive, but they save you money in the long run. No spyware or antivirus needed. Don't need to replace for a super long time, especially if you maintain it well with an external. Mine's only on the fritz because I did something stupid to it. Otherwise I'm sure it would be working like it was new, which it did up until I messed it up.

**I just reread your post. I blacked out when I read Mac. SIMS doesn't run well on Mac. I bought it and was extremely sad about it. If that's a big thing for you and you only use those other programs, stick to a PC.

    - Macbook MacBook - Apple
    - Macbook Pro 13 inch (don't buy the Air, it's too old)
    - Dell XPS 13
    - Lenovo ThinkPad X1

All of them are great and most definitely worth the money. I have the MBP13 and I love it.

Which Sims game do you need to run? I do tech support over there so, I can help you with the specs you need for any of the Sims games.

I can tell you that a netbook won't run any except the Sims original (Sims 1.)
