Dragostea din tei is an awesome song that i've rediscovered. It's in Romanian, which sounds beautiful in this song. You may have heard of it:

Also literally any opera. Mostly this:

I can't remember anymore, but Russian pop is pretty damn cool too.

99 Luftballons, classic! From Nena, I really like her duet with Kim Wilde (Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime) which is in both English and German. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I'm learning Spanish so I've listened to a few Spanish songs. I only understand half of what they're saying but it's still fun to listen to.

    4Minute - Hate (Korean)
Namie Amuro - What A Feeling (Japanese)
Annalisa - Se avessi un cuore (Italian)
    Francesca Michelin - Distratto (Italian)
    Shy'm - Je sais (French)
    Stromae - Papaoutai (French)
    Mylene Farmer - Desenchantee (French)
    Indila - Derniere danse (French)
    K3 - 10.000 Luchtballonen (Dutch)
    Era Istrefi - Bonbon (Albanian)

    Oh yeah Rammstein :icon_mrgr
Also the russian one is good.

I listen to non-english songs a lot, mainly czech ones (I'm Czech, so...) and slovak ones. I love slovak language. It's very melodic, and the fact that I can understand it because it is very similar to my own language makes it even better.

Here is an example of bilingual song, where the man is singing in czech and the woman in slovak. Meaning of this song is partly about division of Czechoslovakia, but mostly it's about when two partners stop understanding each other (bilingual singing just amplifies it)

Two of my the most favourite music bands sing in Norwegian language :rolle: It's Seigmen and Ljungblut, I think that their music is definetelly a masterpiece in many aspects :rolle: And yeah, in such and some other cases it's important to have a translation of song lyrics, especially if a lyricist can write amazing texts with complicated meaning :icon_bigg
For many other cases I search for translation rather rare because I'm lazy for that :icon_bigg
And yeah, I adore German songs and some Japanese too

I used to listen to tons of Japanese music. DIR EN GREY, Galileo Galilei and Luck Life are great metal/indie rock bands but I absolutely adore the angelic voices of Aimer, Daoko and Etsuko Yakushimaru. (for ex: Aimer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AV7QjFdNkUk)

I like trying new things out, and from my researches I'd found a German band called Bakkushan and they're really good. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I70mp0eKWlI)

And there's this Spanish band called Cafe Tacvba, haven't listened to all of their songs, but the songs Maria and Eres are pretty nice. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98Akpf1ph2o) I also know this one song, Lunes 28 by Jose Madero, even though i don't like the lyrics much, i love the tune (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGllZSBPk6U)

(Since I'm Turkish) People often pester me about listening to Turkish music and though most of it is imo trash, there are some good bands. If you're interested, there's Pinhani (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEH_7lMYeRQ - this song brings tears to my eyes) and Athena (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLY2i_DD6tI - and this song makes me really happy)

For the other question, I think sometimes the music, the tune and the words (without meaning) are enough, but when i understand and like the lyrics, then i feel like i can bond with the song on another level... so it is quite important for me (and i almost always search the lyrics if i don't know the language) though i think that's merely notional.

(Btw all artists and songs mentioned above are the ones that have vocals, there are other Japanese artists who I love that only make instrumental music.)

I like music in greek, vasque, Arabic, Zapotec, tsotsil and Russian.
I recommend that you watch the music video for todos me miran by Gloria Trevi. It's an LGBT anthem in México.
