Summer, for some of us, means a break from school, for some, it means road trips, and unfortunately for some others, it can be a little bit more mundane. Regardless of what we do over the summer, there's always something to be learned (hopefully in the enjoyable way!).

What have you learned or discovered over the course of Summer 2016?

For me: I learned that I was kinkier than I had previously thought

(seriously though, feel free to hit me up to talk about that kinda stuff, I yet have much to learn)

Looking back on this past summer, I feel like I haven't done a lot, but I learned so so much.

    * The prairies are beautiful and are a bit different than things here
*Don't take people that mean alot to you for granted
    * How to run a tractor and stack hay
    * Good friends stick by your side
    * Guys scan be so hot and so sweet, but they can play games with you

I learned that my best friend is the nicest person there is on Earth.

And that I could be kinda sick for a whole month.

I mean summer's long in the past down here but I definitely did learn two important lessons.

    1) There are only so many shots you can take before passing out.
    2) No matter how certain you are about everything, changes in life can throw everything into doubt and you just have to deal with that sense of directionlessness step by step.

Mainly how to live independently. I house-sat/ lived in people's houses with their pets alone while they went on vacation and it helped prepare me for my current situation where i'm mainly having to depend on myself and take matters into my own hands.

I learnt that my best friend wasn't actually a best friend.
You shouldn't trust people to get things done. You want something done do it yourself.
That I work in a team better than I thought I did.
I also started learning some Russian.

I taught myself how to swim and realized that I love water almost as much as Haru-kun.

There have been two really important lessons that I've learned, even though I had to learn them the hard way:

1: The only person that holds the key to your happiness is yourself.
2: You have to accept the pain in life in order to witness the beauty of it.

I learnt that confronting my thoughts was beneficial to me over the Summer, and actually revisiting certain places that I had previously had negative associations with actually helped me build up more positive associations with said place. But that's just me, I mean it depends on the situation and all.

Some people think I'm confident, and are impressed with my determination apparently. I wasn't really expecting that one, but then again I'd never really thought about it. Isn't it weird sometimes how some people can think that the seemingly mundane things you do are impressive, and you're busy thinking the same about them? The things we admire in others, are sometimes the things they don't really think about.

That I'm not as far off achieving my goals as I first thought. I started the Summer feeling like my goals were unreachable and that I might end up being a failure. But overtime I realised that perhaps there is some hope after all.

Also, I realised that I'm starting to become an adult. Yeah, I know- I already knew that, but this Summer was when this fact really started to sink in for me. I realised that the person I expected I would turn out to be, isn't the person I am- but I'm ok with that. I don't feel any worse off because of it.

I learned that I am perfectly capable of teaching a college-level class and that this is, indeed, what I want to do with the rest of my life.

*The Bee Hummingbird is WAY TOO CUTE
*Eurasian Magpies can recognize themselves in a mirror
*If humans are experiencing hypothermia, then they might throw off their clothes in confusion
    *Extensive and useless morbid information!!1!
*A bit of information about transhumanism (the book was long-winded, so I never finished it)

I learned that I really am pansexual, that I wasn't just lying to myself about it, because I got a huge crush on a girl at a camp I go to.

I didn't really do much, but I feel I've gotten to know myself more than I ever have before. Maybe that's because I wasn't doing a whole lot, so I had more time to think!

I learned that mountain goats aren't actually goats. They are more closely related to antelopes.
