I think the black bears are starting to come out of the woods and onto our property again. Just went outside and our large 10 gal. planter that we grow our tomatoes in was completely knocked over and the cats were very on edge about something. Haven't had any high winds here today so that rules that out, and we know for a fact there are black bears that live on the ridge in the woods up behind our house.

If it makes you feel any better, my family and I are running into the same problem with our farm. The fences that we put up to keep critters from eating the crops was somehow knocked over with most of the blueberries eaten off the bushes. I read some resources online and the littlest things can draw in black bears. Between the crops and the bird feeders, the yard ended up being a little paradise for them. I'd definitely recommend looking up some things like this and making adjustments will probably save you a lot more trouble in the future.

I would also say not to shoot them (although I would say it seriously, don't know if iiimee was serious or not, lol). Because well, three things
    1) Is it even legal to just straight up ice an animal like that?
    2) There's an alarmingly good chance the bear will survive and come and eat you if you shoot it
    3) Don't kill the brethren of my teddy, they're just hungry.

We have moose here, they've been in our yard and stuff. We also have deer running around sometimes, even in the suburbs and stuff where's there's some trees/forest.

Also, it's illegal to shoot during the night, if we're still following Andrew's joke advice.

I think overall my best and safest option is to just stay inside at night. Read a book, work on my paintings, or practice some new music on the Accordion. Beats getting mauled by a wild beast!

"Don't kill the brethren of my teddy, they're just hungry. " Oh my god than sounded SO DAMN CUTE lol, but I agree, don't shoot the bear.

You can't call ASPCA or fire workers for that? I mean, maybe it's better to call someone with experience to do the job instead of you...

Hehe - your title made me giggle (visual of large, hairy men stomping out of your woods ) The farm I'm staying on has jackals which seem to be munching the lambs :/

No if that were the case there wouldn't be any problem at all! Haha

Sorry to hear of the wildlife troubles you're having. Hopefully we both can resolve these issues.
Best of luck to you.
