Yes, I definitely do have social anxiety. It was pretty severe up until a couple of years ago, but now I somehow learnt to control it better, if we can talk about controlling at all... I get panic attacks every now and then, but luckily they are not as bad as before.

So, anxiety + panic attacks + trust issues + my constant insecurity = me being a mess. :icon_redf

    Thanks for the link!

I scored 43 on the test, and whilst that is a moderate amount, I don't think I have social anxiety - at least, not all the time. Like, I'm naturally a quiet and introverted person, so what bothers me the most (the questions that I scored high on) is being in the centre of attention around a lot of people - especially if I don't know or like them. I can't stand it when everyone's watching me, doing presentations was always a complete nightmare for me. Even in one class, when my teacher used to call on me to read aloud all the time (he hated me, haha) my friend would end up volunteering to do it for me because I'd get freaked out!

So, yeah, I don't think I suffer from actual social anxiety, but I definitely get strong feelings of it when I'm at the centre of attention.

    I scored 19/90 points.

Your score indicates some social anxiety symptoms. You may or may not have a diagnosable case of social anxiety disorder.

I doubt I have social anxiety, though I am quite shy and I hate large parties or social gathering where I don't know anyone.

I scored 59. I think about 5 years ago it would have been a lot lower.

I've always been a bit shy but I became very socially anxious in my teens after a horrendous experience being bullied, plus learning I was gay. I was selectively mute for a while too. It got better later in high school then better still as I eventually found the confidence to come out. I always wanted to be a teacher but through uni, and working in a job with easy interactions with the public, my confidence grew. I've been teaching for years and so felt much more confident when I first qualified than I do now.

I do find my social anxiety has gotten worse these last two years, I think I feel isolated from family and friends which maybe means I am a bit out of practice. Plus I've had a few experiences over the years which have rattled me and shaken my confidence. So I'm thrilled this thread has appeared just when I need it as I really want to work on improving my confidence and silencing my inner critic. I have no problems teaching, I can happily perform in front of a whole class but socialising or going to the shops fills me with so much anxiety, and I don't think it was as bad a few years ago.

I probably have some. Maybe not as severe as some people's but it definitely affects my daily life. Interestingly, I feel like I have amplified social anxiety when it comes to using facebook and the proper ediquet, mainly because everything you do there can be seen by tons of people and you can see their reaction or know who will see and that's terrifying. And then there's the general day-to-day stuff. I'm not sure if this is what social anxiety is, but for me it manifests a lot as paranoia, like thinking what I said was awkward and everyone's thinking it, thinking I've been offensive weird, or thinking someone is mad at me when really they're just busy.

Yes, I do have minor social anxiety, but I don't think it's that bad in my life right now, as I do have a supportive group of friends who help me often. It also used to be much more severe, but when I started boarding school two years ago it did a lot to help me. I feel with time, it can disappear completely. Good luck to all of you in worse situation

No. I was very shy in elementary school but outgrew it quickly.

Despite having depression related anxiety and Aspergers, I have no social anxiety.

I am not afraid to talk to people, nor do I worry what they think of me. Sure, I'm frankly terrible at communicating in person, and often avoid interaction entirely (for a variety of reasons including but not limited to a lack of motivation).

I haven't been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, but I've had symptoms indicative of an anxiety disorder for years now. If I ever ended up going to a therapist or a psychiatrist I'm sure I would be diagnosed with some social anxiety disorder

    As for the test

    Your Results

You scored 65 out of 90 possible points.

Your score indicates a high amount of social anxiety and most likely would meet DSM-IV standards for social anxiety disorder.

I've always had social anxiety, but it has got REALLY BAD last year. Luckily, I'm better now, but may I say it was horrible. Honestly I wish I could have taken pills or a medication. In fact, my therapist highly recommended it, but my mother wouldn't allow :/

Yes. I have general anxiety and had to take two pills for it. It would get so bad that I would get heart palpitations. Kava is a natural herb that helps as well.

I scored 45/90. "Your score indicates a moderate amount of social anxiety and would probably would meet DSM-IV qualifications for social anxiety disorder."

Although I just don't really like talking to many people in general. In most situations if I have to talk to someone I will and it won't bother me too much. Talking to strangers on the phone (like customer service) is a whole different story though.

All my life for as long as I can remember. I got a retail job over a year ago thinking it would help significantly but it only has slightly.

    I did the same one.

I would say I have some 'social anxiety in general', but probably not enough for a diagnosis of a disorder.

I had 68 from 90, lol, but I have social anxiety as fuck... Talking about this I have social dysphoria related to my gender dysphoria too, I hate being seen as a guy.
