Is that okay??? Should I rush them to the vet's? I know this is really a question for some pet advice forum but please tell me if you think there's going to be an issue! Basically, I couldn't eat so I just split my food between my dogs - and only remembered AFTER they'd eaten it that dogs aren't supposed to have onions or garlic. I tried Googling it with few helpful results. They didn't eat much, will they be okay???
It depends on how much they ate, exactly. I think they'll probably be okay. I guess they might throw up, though.
They didn't eat loads: probably a large handful each? They're not especially small dogs, either. Thanks!
Yeah, my dog is small (a Shih Tzu) and he's probably eaten a lot of it before, because my dad is always giving him stuff he shouldn't (as it's hard to say no to his cute face ^^). And he's just fine.
Thank you my Mum said they should be okay and they both look fine, so you're probably right. I know, right? I'm always treating my two way too much, they're so cute...
They'll probably be fine, but keeping an extra eye on their cute selves might not be a bad idea. : ) xx
They'll be fine Onions in garlic in small amounts like you get in bolognese sauce will be ok - a bit quesy maybe, but ok. It's if they get into your supply cupboard and go for the ingredients it's a more serious problem.
We're keeping an eye on them - thanks, everyone! I was really freaking out for a moment there, so thanks for replying.
Okay, this is new. It might as well depend on how used your dogs are to eating food not suitable for them.
They'll be fine. There's barely a substantial amount of garlic/onion in spaghetti bolognese, and since you say they're not especially small, it shouldn't affect them. My dog is huge (Dogue de Bordeaux) and loves garlic bread occasionally, as well as a white chocolate cookie very rarely and it's had no effect on him. He has garlic from the garlic bread maybe every 2/3 weeks or so and it hasn't upset him whatsoever, and he'd have to eat his own weight in white chocolate to make him even throw up. Don't worry!
Well, it's been about 18 hours and they're both totally fine, so I'll lay it to rest, haha. Ah, okay, good! There didn't seem to be much of it and to be fair, when I say "spaghetti bolognese" it was about 80% just spaghetti. Usually I'm a lot more careful when I give them anything, but I just forgot for a moment I guess. Thank you so much to everybody who replied! You really helped.
My dogs been feeling odd and being a bit mopey all day today.I didn't know they werent supposed to have garlic and my mum gave him so bolognese yesturday. It makes sense now.
