    Some people are just a--holes. I have seen people who are homophobic even showing sympathy and paying tribute to those that lost their lives in Orlando.

    And here we have a good reason why biased and senseless hate doesn't belong in a country's law system. It's hard for me to imagine a civilized country being further behind the US in anything.

    This is Russia we're talking about, they have history for being pretty shitty people (before anyone goes into a rage over my comment, I'm partly of Russian heritage)

    Had a Russian classmate who seriously told me, two years ago: "We have no gays there." I laughed a little, and told her that technically, yes, the fact that they don't say it doesn't mean that they don't exist. She then proceeded to tell me: "No, you don't understand, we don't have gays there because we treat them, or we tell them to leave and they do, they're bad for the country. Imagine if they were not found and later put in the government? We would be in trouble!"

    And to think this girl was 23-24 at the time, and from a very educated family... u_u"
    Very sad to see that things are not changing for the better in Russia. Not even sure that, once Putin will die, the remaining government will treat the LGBT community any better. :/

    As much as the US needs to improve its LGBT rights. Russian and a lot of other countries have it way worse for the LGBT folks

    Yeah, Russia is homophobic. That sucks. But it isn't homophobic because people in Russia are mean, or evil, or stupid, or ignorant, or anything like that. To pinpoint more precisely why this is would require me to dig deeper into Russian social history and so on, but at any rate I choose to believe there is, like basically always, a reason for most things - Russia is homophobic for a reason, or well, for many reasons, I guess. If anyone here were straight and lived in (and was raised in) Russia, they'd be just as likely to be homophobic as the average Russian.

    I agree with the quote above. Russians like all people in the World are generally good. Human.

    The Russian governments stand on LGBT rights goes to show you a) how leaders use fear to gain and hold power) b) how little people (the leaders again) are actually "very little" and need to pump of their small penis's (if they are male) to show they are "big".
