Happy to specify. Yes, I'm a very devout Christian. My denomination is Eastern Orthodoxy (although there are those in my denomination who disagree-- they say orthodox and Christian are synonymous, and any other denomination is not Christian--NOTE I disagree with this very strongly.)

In any case, as a devout Christian I have found that Christians are the most angry, bigoted people around (at least the conservatives are) and I would rather be friends with an atheist, as long as they can accept my beliefs, as you clearly can.

That would fall under Deism, yes. A Deist may or may not be a member of an organized religion.

I'm Pastafarian (aka a really sarcastic atheist). Ramendan actually started up for us on Sunday so it's interesting to see this come up as a forum topic right now.

Well toaism isnt really all that uncommon, it is one of the major religions. There has been no other book aside from the bible that has been reproduced in different languages as much as the tao te ching.

I consider myself to be an agnostic atheist. I've never really been religious, but I have occasionally considered certain religions/religious philosophies such as Buddhism, Taoism, Bahai'sm, Pantheism and (forms of) Paganism.

I'm an atheist, because I simply don't think there is a God.

"Weak" Atheist. In the sense that I don't claim to have any evidence or knowledge about the existence or non-existence of deities or the afterlife (unlike one who explicitly claims that they don't). Nor do I really think it should have any impact on my life one way or another.

Yes, exactly. I don't actually worship Satan, it's more about being an individual, being a free thinker, not following anyone else's path, but still having some structure in my life. I started following the 11 rules of the earth a while back, minus the whole destroy others who bother you part. It's worked out well for me actually.

The Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth | churchofsatan.com

I do believe there is a God out there, I just choose to not follow him/her. I find it silly to actually worship something. (No offence to ANYONE who worships a God!!)

Especially considering if there is a God, he/she/it isn't doing a great job of being a good and caring omnipotent force.

Bruh, that's my old religion. X_X I left because not only had I read the God Delusion by Richard Dawkins and had my whole world view crushed, but my church was bigoted. They said they were fine with my being bisexual, so long as I remained celibate, but they absolutely refused to use "he", "him" or "his" pronouns...

Yeah, I think most Satanists you'll encounter are "LaVeyan".

I actually did not know there was a specific term for that line of thinking. Thanks for that!

Atheist. There is no evidence for a god. A god really only makes things more complicated, because if that god was able to create our universe then that god has to be even more complex then the universe itself. It also just leads us to the question: Where did god come from? ("Turtles all the way down" obviously!)

In all honesty I think the universe is so increadibly intricately complex that we will never ever understand the entirety of it. Even if we are able to figure out the most basic laws of the universe from within from our perspective. Who is to say there is not more to it than what we can measure and observe?

At this moment with the knowledge I have right now I believe that humans are merely biochemical machines, without free will or what some people like to refer to as "souls". In reality our bodies are just a product of the physical nature of the universe. And we are slaves to our biochemistry, it gives us an illusion of free will, but in the end all of our choices and actions are determined by the chemistry in our bodies. It is simply so complex that we couldn't ever possibly account for every single factor that plays in to the end product of each choice to ever be able to predict with complete certainty the outcome of any situation.

Now that is not to say that I necessarily believe in a fundamentally deterministic universe, because there are certain indeterministic quantum mechanical functions which pose a challenge to that kind of a mindset. However I do believe that the universe probably is deterministic, only we don't completely understand the mechanics of it to be able to say so yet.

In the end I just think it's weird that anything exists to begin with. Wouldn't it make more sense for nothing to exist? Apparently not since we do exist, which I find weird and interesting. But it's something I've thought about a lot.
