From what I can remember it was a classmate of mine in high school. She was very openly bisexual and had an obsession with Dita Von Tesse. I sat next to her and it didn't really bother me. I was mostly amused by how out there her personality was.

My sister has two friends that are both named Jamie. Growing up, my parents would always refer to him as "Gay Jamie". Well obviously he was gay but I didn't know what being gay meant until I was 11.

I didn't meet any LGBT people until college. There were two guys I found out were gay at the time, and because I can't remember which one I knew first, I'll discuss both of them.

One was the costume design professor in the theatre department; he was the nicest of all of the professors in the department. He was totes obvious because he brought his partner to events, and besides that, your gaydar could be completely out of batteries and he'd still ping it.

The other was one of my fellow students with whom I often worked on group projects. I didn't figure out he was gay for a while; my gaydar is weak, and it was thrown off because he would hang out a lot with a female friend, whom I assumed he was dating. It hit me over the head one day, though, when we were working on a particularly frustrating project - this being an engineering major, there were plenty of those, and if you weren't a swear-er coming in, you'd be one by the semester's end - and I said "fuck me," to which he responded, "maybe later." :icon_redf

The first LGBT person I ever heard of was Ellen. My dad made a comment about her being a lesbian when Finding Nemo came out. The first LGBT person I knew personally, is my friend Laura. She hit on me a lot and smacked my ass every chance she got, lmao. I miss hanging out with her. :frowning2:

In real life? Not applicable. I don't know anyone that's openly LGBT.

Don't know if this counts, but my best friend when I was 4 years old (we're the same age), is also gay. We didn't know it at the time though.

One of the following probably, not sure who I met first:
    1. My uncle who is openly gay
    2. The guy who does my hair
    3. One of my best friends (neither of us knew back when we were like six) who is genderqueer and pansexual

Let's see. The first person I met that I knew was gay was my friend in college. I would say my uncle since I knew him first but I didn't know he was gay.

My best friend's lesbian sister, who was also my first same-sex kiss. I think that pretty much says how I reacted to her :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Someone I didn't know was bi until this year but I knew when I was 5 and he was an awful person and disposed every bit of him.. He bullied me and I think it was because of his own self consciousness because he also struggled with his weight and high voice a swell as his hight and probably apperence..

    Anyway..

The first person I knew who I knew was bi streight away is another awful douchbag..

My landlady. She was living with her girlfriend at that time. Before this, I heard that an ex-colleague was gay but that was never confirmed. If he is gay, then he would be the first gay person I met.

I knew a lot of LGBT people, celebrity-likewise, but personally, I was the first person that I knew who was part of the LGBT community. Nobody came out to me before I realised. And I used to not question that part of them. Then came my best friend male. And my best friend female. Coincidence? I don't think so ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°)
