Me, evidently. Yeah. I just got called Darth Vader, through necessary implication, by my wife. I had the absolute gall, evidently, to change my Amazon password and not give it to her. This prompted an epic "discussion" of "Why are you trying to hurt me and the kids?!?!" ; "Why are you being sneaky and deceptive?!?!" ; "I just don't understand why you're throwing our marriage away?!?!" ; and then the amazing coup de grâce: "I feel like I'm Padmé Amidala and you're.... Well, I just don't know why you won't slow down?"

So, I'm evidently turning to the Dark Side of the Force and transitioning into Darth Vader.

I had a bit of an unvarnished reaction to that, but yeah... if anyone is using the Dark Side here, it sure as shit ain't me.

    O_O

That's terrible! I'm so sorry! ... So much hurt being flung around. :frowning2: I am sad for you.

.... Is Darth Vader trans? I would thank a feminist god for a second female character in A New Hope.

To be fair, Darth Vader is way cooler than Anakin Skywalker. At least you're not a whiny little bitch.

Lazuri, well, she was technically calling me Anakin, as he was in the process of transtioning to the Dark Side so yeah. But still. Unbelievable.

Katchoo, I hear you on that. At least the new ones have some strong female leads.

EDIT: I wonder what she would say if she knew I got my ears pierced yesterday. Wow, if changing a password set off that shitshow, imagine what my fancy solitare studs are going to do. <evil laugh>

If it's any consolation, I was called a selfish faggot so many times after coming out to my wife that I've lost count. I would have much preferred to be called a Dark Lord of the Sith :starwars:

Unfortunately, this dynamic is far too common after coming out to a spouse. If you are ready, turn to the Light Side and deflect her attacks. If not, turn to the Dark Side and counterattack.

    Hang in there

I'm so sorry, that sounds awful... :frowning2:

The irony is that the Darth Vadar metaphor works much better in the opposite way to what she intended. Looking at the horrible prequels, in the first film, Anakin who was called Annie by her mother, can be seen as innocent and free. However, something changed in her once she reached puberty, something dark started growing inside of her, gender dysphoria, eventually, like many trans people she started hiding behind a mask, embracing the darkness and emptiness of living a life which was not her own, she became nothing more than a shell. The Empire perfectly represents the conservative and stifling society that often takes us down that path, leaving us no choice but to hide who we really are from the world around us. Eventually, she left her family and distanced herself from everyone that she loved as the dysphoria or the dark side consumed her. The story ends with her freeing herself from the chains of that society by transitioning, the lightning of the Emperor represents the pain we go through as part of transitioning. (electrolysis?) After she does so, she for the first time in a long time is able to remove the mask and show her son who she really is inside and it feels like she can breath again. In the last scene, she returns to being Annie, the girl that she was long ago... :astonished:

Eveline, you have a true gift. While I certainly saw the transition piece for Vader, I would have never been that wonderfully creative with it.

Who knew an Amazon Password had so much power! LOL. It's like the "true name" from the inheritance cycle.
