I was actually optimistic when I first heard this, figured the reasonable crowd were suing North Carolina and trying to bring in some much needed sanity.

    I overestimated their brainpower.

...I really hate living here. Might as well start digging my way to the border with a spoon if this goes down badly.

    Need some spare spoons?

"Protect the dignity of our children" they say.
As if a sign saying "NAW MEHN IN DISH BARTHREWM" would stop anyone who actually wants to assault someone.
Also, what about men assaulting young boys? women assaulting young girls?
The entire thing is just so flimsy and bullshit it just isn't funny. I wonder if they thought about the fact that transgender kids going to the wrong bathroom, especially if they're displaying as their own identity, are FAR more likely to be harassed? they should be protecting the people that are actually vulnerable here.
But no. They don't consider non-cisgendered people as "human". Clearly their own right to discriminate is more important than the rights of others. :bang:

Yay, Texas! Glad to see my tax dollars go down the drain. It would be more useful if Greg Abbott used dollar bills to wipe himself and flush them down the drain.

At least then we would be helping him get rid of the crap he must be full of.

I would assume the US Attorney General will say that because of Title IX no public school can opt out of protecting transgender students, which is correct.

I'm reminded of an obnoxious joke from Family Guy. Some sort of meeting was going to be held, with like a BYO notice and an addition saying something like "No Jews, though. Okay, Jews." Awful joke indeed, I just thought it reflected the hypocrisy I see a lot (not only in the US, but in the US too), like "Oh, everyone's free here in the land of the free, everyone can live their lives as they want to. No gays or trannies, or Muslims, Jews, Mexicans or blacks, though. Okay, blacks and Mexicans, sometimes." Just... ugh... "We don't scherve yourr kain here in Texasch, go back from 'sch you keim frumm".

    This. Right here.

Well... they can opt out. And not receive federal funding (which every public school does).

I'm sure most public schools would be against allowing their state governments opting out of billions of dollars of funding, but I could be wrong. I know many public universities would be affected if their states do opt out.

Lmao I'm not even surprised by what states are doing this. Can't wait to move out of this state too. California sounds so much better compared to this shitty place.

RIght. They "can"... but the ramifications would be devastating to the state.

They aren't going to win. I hate this country ith a passion and have zero faith in the justice system most of the time, but they aren't going to win this. They're just throwing a hissy fit.

Yeah right! That's not the reason you're suing; you're suing because you're meanies! *sticks tongue out*

    Stop making excuses for discrimination!

I think both sides make reasonable argument. One is if it's about using the bathroom then what is the big fuss. That can be used for both sides.

I thought that the idea of having a leader was that they made laws and ran a country? States aren't countries, they're states. If they truly want to make their own laws, why not become independent?

In all fairness, the federal government would not allow any state to become independent under any circumstances. I'm not defending the states suing over this, and I think they're going to lose anyway, but that really isn't a valid argument.
