I'm so happy for you! (!)
It's a great feeling to let go of the repression and trust someone, then to be rewarded with acceptance.

Whiz, did you do it without the lawnmower?

Congratulations! I remember when I came out to my mom. It was so emotionally exhausting. I, like you, was worn out at the end of the convo.

Are you riding the high? The 'coming out high'? I got to experience that high for a few months while I was telling everyone I am bi. First you're terrified then (if all goes well) you're higher than cloud 9!

Enjoy that high! And, if you choose to come out to anyone else I wish you nothing but the best on that journey.

    Here's to you! :eusa_danc

Congratulations! Interesting that you said that she already kind of knew. My mother would ask me if I was gay, albeit in round about ways, when I was a teen. So happy for you, and I know it is a weight off your shoulders.

Yes! I am quite happy to report that it was totally lawnmower free!

As an update: I came out to my brother. He is 4 years older than me, very hard core left wing, so i figured it wouldn't be a problem. It hit him as a bit of a shock, and he indicated that it will take some time for him to absorb the news.

I told him not to worry as it took me 28 years to accept myself and i quite simply left it at that. So, so far so good.

I do need to tell you of something interesting that happened a few days after i came out, and that is depression. I don't know why. Maybe it's just the reality setting in. Has anyone here ever experienced it?

Haven't experienced it but haven't come out to family either. You've kinda been on an emotional roller coaster as nervous as you were. Maybe it's just a delayed reaction to stress.

I'm beginning to wonder if that's what it was. It has been a hell of a ride...

Whiz, I haven't experienced any depressive feelings, like Bunny said, could just be that emotional roller coaster.

Something that goes through my head is, "Well, I can't go back into hiding now even if I wanted to." Once it's out there, it's out there.

Proud of you man. You got through it and no scratches. Now it's just living your life and being free and happy. Good for you. (*hug*)
