Well,because I think her videos are bullshit..she has a series about women in video games..we are talking about video games and she tries to match that with reality. She makes free money from it though,why would she stop?

 

I do. As much as it puts me at high risk of going blind, early heart failure, and early prostate cancer, and a spontaneous brain tumour , I actually do. And those men aren't butt hurt, why don't you watch their videos for once, and see that they are actually rationale and resonable on their claims against Anita and others. Unlike her, they almost always leave links to her videos so that you could watch them yourself, and actually encourage you to! They just might change your mind...

 

Look, all popular YouTubers make money off their videos, so why is she being singled out for doing so?

Not saying I support Anita, but I am going to play devil's advocate here, like I always do.

 

Because the way she makes money is dirty. Whether is be Kickstarters that raise money for one thing but then use if for her own personal gain, buying subsribers and Twitter followers, lying through her teeth and getting taken down from YouTube for breaking its policies, only to be put back up again.

Also, she disables comments and likes. I wonder why.

I think edy means to say that in media culture minority groups are hardly ever represented and when they are it's very 'one mold'. In some cases I think video games do better on that front. There's always room for improvement still.

As for Anita, I remember stumbling across her videos years ago. I found myself agreeing with some of her points, thinking many were ridiculous and overall being quite bored. The thing is she's not entirely wrong (despite being a charlatan) and there are issues in video games that could be discussed.

Sexism and gender stereotyping is one for sure. I'm becoming annoyed with the fact I can play a game with a male lead, who is not some super human, or crazy ninja, etc. Just a normal Joe but as soon as he takes off his shirt, he's built like Arnold Schwarzenegger on steroids...on steroids. Its a similar thing for ladies. I'm not saying there aren't video games that have diverse character design, they're just not as abundant.

There's sexual pandering in a lot of games, sex sells, ya know. That's ok if the context is right. Making a character sexy is fine, making a character just to be sexy is debatable. (I'm looking at you zero suit Samus for the Wii u)

Does anyone know of a youtuber that discusses these kinds of topics, that is honest and aware of all related issues? I think it'd be fun to talk about.

 

What's so immoral about using sex to sell? If you don't like that type of videogame, don't buy it. If you like another type of videogame, get that one instead. Why should people not be allowed to play certain videogames because they don't match your criteria for it?

 

What are you talking about? I never said using sex to sell is immoral. I said that sex sells, and that's ok. Its how you go about it. Example, say your selling a video game. Your game art, trailers, etc shows scantily clad characters with weapons kicking butt and being awesome characters. Then someone buys your game and realized the characters you advertised don't actually kick much butt and turn out to be one dimensional characters that don't have a lot to do with the game. It's not really a cool thing to do to anyone.

Also I never said people shouldn't play what they want. I'm a gamer, I love how much fun people have playing games. The only thing I could judge someone on is their taste in video games.:lol:

 

Because she's misleading her fans... she's raising money when she doesn't need it and isn't finishing projects she was paid a TON of money to finish.

It's one thing to make money. It's another to to raise money for projects but then ultimately not even come close to completing them THEN move on to new projects with a new set of money. She raised well over her goal for her first project. In 4 years, she completed 3 out of 12 videos. Now she's raising a ton of money for a new project.



And the fact that TheAmazingAtheist is raising money to help women in third world countries makes Anita think it's an attack on her is also bullshit on her part.
