Platty: bathroom bill mixed with taking away protections from discrimination and other pretty terrible laws.

I have to say that the response to HB2 has been absolutely brilliant. It's so nice to see so many stand on our side and support us. We often talk about how badly it reflects on humanity that such laws are created but in this case it also highlights how far we've come as so many have mobilized in our support. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:ride:

Oh, okay. Thank you. Well it's good that they aren't doing that, then.

Well, it was rather obvious: it's intention was to violate civil rights. But at least it's been noted now and hopefully the Republicans can move on to actual important issues like starvation... but since when does that happen?

Hopefully Cruz's lackeys won't get their way much longer. This is progress. :icon_wink

It was only a matter of time before these 'religious freedom' and 'bathroom' bills would be challenged.
The right wing homophobes like Mat Staver, Scott Lively and their ilk will go apeshit! Hopeful these nutters will be shown up for the ranting wackjobs that they are.

This is America. We don't do progress here. Something else is gonna come pretty soon.

I'm a bit miffed that it took this long for the bill to be challenged in this way.
I'm no politics expert, is this how long it would usually take?

Regardless, down with these hateful laws! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:ride:
Frankly, the response to this law has been heartwarming.

... though, I'd say Platty has a point. Or maybe I'm being pessimistic.

Maybe I'm being pessimistic too, but it just seems like a lot of people who are in control of this stuff are really mean and don't want things to get changed.

Given the hailstorm of discriminatory hate laws in the last month or so, I'm really not surprised. Because you're almost certainty right.

Little if any real progress will be made with these kinds of people in so many positions of power.

It's amazing how fast the transgender rights movement is coming along.

I'm happy to see the US putting pressure on the state, but thus far, despite all the pressure placed on them, they haven't really done anything: It's as if they are intentionally going to be stubborn, because they feel their seats are safe in the NC state house/senate, due to how they've gerrymandered all the districts, so that it'll be pretty hard to get the Republicans out.

I'm hoping they wake up to economic reality, but NC has been slow to do so; under the current governor, they have become among the poorest states. (Ranking # 39, and with poverty rates that continue to grow)

It's almost like they don't care...

All I know is that I'll definitely boycott the state; I have a friend in Asheville, but we'll have to visit up here.

I'm just a bit surprised it had taken them this long. Hell, did they not even think about this being a violation of Title IX? Regardless, I'm glad we're finally getting this resolved.
