Actually, I find that 20-somethings are some of the worst offenders of this humblebrag. Twenty is the transition point into adulthood - school ends, you need to find a job, find a place to live, pay bills, etc. All of these responsibilities make people in their early twenties long for the days when they were once considered teenagers. And then they'll commonly complain about how they were carded for an R-rated movie or an M-rated video game, as if it's such a burden to show an id. Realistically, this kind of comment is almost always a boast disguised as a complaint, and most people can see right through it.

I'm pretty neutral I guess. I recognize the fact that I have a baby-face but I'm not a fan of it being pointed out often.

Got told I looked 14 in a wedding last summer... I used to get oh you're too young to be married! You have kids?! Wait aren't you in school?! I think however I look my age. It's just people I don't know. I don't know if it's a compliment lol.

Honestly I don't mind when people mistake my age, I do take it as a compliment. Most people assume I'm under 21 so I get carded for everything. Which doesn't bother me, but it s funny to see the expression on their faces when they realize my age.

    I'm 23. I got carded when I tried to buy a rated M game.

    I know the feeling, lol.

I've always loved looking younger. My friend said I looked twelve even I shaved at like 26. (I think she exaggerates).
I've recently been told I could eat pass for 25, though I'm like 35.
I'd get carded All three rings. Didn't care. I was carded until I was nearly 30 and only changed sometimes after I got the goatee.
I Steve's again. I would be happy to look as I did at line 20 forever.
Honestly I like the "twinky" look and want to look that way.

I think that the majority of those who claim to be insulted by being told they look young are just pretending they are pissed off. Most of us - including me vainly - like looking younger than they are.
If people were that bothered by looking younger, and wanted to be mistaken for someone older, then the cosmetic industry would make a creme to remedy that. They could even call it "WrinkleMax". With clinical results that are proven to make you look like an old fart before your time.

A lot of people should stop pretending they are hurt by it cos I think they love it really.

I'm 14 and waiters still give me kids menus at restaurants. It's annoying and a bit insulting for me personally.

Depends on age. Everyone seems to want to look older until about 25 when they want to be young again..
I clearly don't have any experience in this so my view is probably a tad niive

You should value such compliments while you still can. You may not always look young for your age.

I am personally always told I look really young. Around a decade younger than I actually am (which is 30). I love it, and I hope such compliments continue throughout my life.

To be honest, I take it as a compliment when someone says I look younger than my actual age, simply because the majority of the time, people think I'm older...

I completely understand!! I'm going to be 23 and I get a lot of people who think I am 12-15 range. Everyone says I look so young. I don't find it as a compliment because it makes it harder to look my age and make friends that are around my age. I know I'll be happier when I'm older though.

it was so bad that I went out with family to celebrate my 21 bday and I was offered a kids menu by the waiter...needless to say I was beyond embarrassed and everyone thought it was hilarious....but on the up side usually of I go somewhere with someone older than me I usually get charged kids price without them questioning my age

By itself, I take it as a neutral observation. Depending on their tone, what else they might add, or context, I'll react positively or negatively.

Pretty sure I mentioned it before, but when an Asian woman says you look young, you take it!

it really depends on how old you are. for example, when I was 9, I met a girl and she said that I looked 13 and I thought that was super cool! but yesterday, someone said I look about 10, and I didn't take it as an insult, but I definitely didn't take it as a compliment.
