I hate cell phones. So I still rock a landline and still write phone numbers on napkins and cigarette packs and I don't text. So I was wondering if there was anybody else who is single and not surgically attached to a cell phone and can offer advice on how to meet people and keep them from losing interest in you when they can't text you every minute of every day. I feel like cell phones have caused my generation to be impatient and attention needy and it just makes it really hard to meet people.

I think "hate" is a strong word for a cell phone. If you don't like them, fine, but don't expect a lot of people think like that. You can do group activities so you can meet people but I'm sure there will be people that uses a cell phone. They are not bad.

I don't know, I think it would be hard to meet someone who thinks exactly like you, but that doesn't mean you won't meet someone who finds your lack of cellphone use fascinating and charming.

Well, back when I was in middle-high school I specifically didn't want one because I had few friends and didn't want the responsibility. I have one now but I only use it when necessary, as I prefer the internet as my primary method of communication. And no, I'm not talking facebook. Until I'm comfortable with myself, or live in a better location, I'm going to continue hiding.

I'm single and have a cell phone, but I wouldn't say I'm so attached to it that I wouldn't be able to function. I always have it on me tho in case I need to contact a person via voice or text. But my eyes aren't glued to it 24/7. And no one expects to carry a constant conversation though text...there are some people who find the imposition of texting every minute of everyday to be daunting. Personally, I have been on dates or just a casual hang out where I just do not take my phone out ever and just keep on telling myself it can wait.

I don't have a phone. But then again I'm an asocial eccentric. Who needs contacts when you can have glasses anyway.

I don't have one, but that's just 'cause there aren't many people I honestly call or want calling me, so it helps me save on expenses. XD I have nothing against phones or anything like that.

I'm single, I've got a cell phone; said phone no longer has a service plan on it because I don't want one. The thing more or less just serves as my camera/mp3 player. I don't want people to be able to contact me at all hours of the day.

Personally, I hate talking on phones, period; cell phone or landline. I do the vast majority of my communicating over the internet.

I just have a flip phone, I downgraded from the iPhone because I refuse to pay $80+ a month for something I barely use. I now pay less than $100 a year for my current phone.

    I don't have a phone.

It'd be a waste of money because I don't really have anybody to text.

You mean if I'm willing to commit career-suicide? No. I'm afraid that's not my jam (nor an option).

My friend Shane, but in the end we gave him one, he kind of just locked it away.
