What is harmful about the words bisexual and transgender? Makes no sense

I can understand ''sexual'' [I'm the kind of person who doesn't think sex-ed should be taught in schools, year 9 was far too young for me] , but I don't understand gender - it's something kids from the age 2 know about.

I really don't understand why so many things do this. Plenty of games I played in the past, I couldn't even say "No thanks, I'm gay" because it was censored.

Because these aren't the kind of things a child should be thinking about.

But the media has no issues shoving princesses and Disney marriages on everyone. I'm not saying to not block porn or anything like that, but I believe that being gay/trans should be openly talked about so kids don't grow up hating themselves like I did.

And the harm is caused where, exactly? Seems like another typical overreaction to please bored housewives with too much time on their hands and a reason to be offended by everything.

I think kids should know LGBT stuff early on, I sure wish I did.

I started researching about sexual identities when I was 7. A kid should have the option to do research on these subjects if they feel that they need to.

In this case I suppose it depends on the age range intended for this site. If a kid is old enough to be searching "bisexual" and "transgender", then perhaps they need to just use Google.

    They are so defensive
"You have entered an LGBT related search query. Please realize that while Kiddle has nothing against the LGBT community, it's hard to guarantee the safety of all the search results for such queries. We recommend that you talk to your parent or guardian about such topics."
Can't they "handpick" appropriate websites about very important topics like LGBT+ topics?

I find that if it is kid friendly than they have carefully thought of a way to filter porn out. So I can't see why they can't find a way to filter out inappropriate LGBT+ topics.

They changed it, I tested it
    Transgender worked
    Bisexual worked
So to make it a fair test I searches the word sex
    Sex was a bad word

I think you misunderstood me. A child should have no sexual identity. That's not the kind of thing a freespirited kid needs to think about until they're older. They should be allowed to savour their best years of carefree living.

Re: Kiddle: Child-friendly search site bans words including 'bisexual' and 'transgend

I think it's wrong for them to block the words bisexual and transgender obviously at the point they type those words in they are questioning themselves. They are in the process of maturing no matter their actual age. This is blocking them from maturing faster and it is unfair to those kids.

In all reality though Google will still be highly dominant for the search engine of choice even for kids.

Re: Kiddle: Child-friendly search site bans words including 'bisexual' and 'transgend

Kiddle is geared towards pretty little kids. I agree with what someone said previously, if they are old enough to search for LGBTQ terms then they are probably old enough to just use Google. Kids are smart, they don't need kid search engines. I'd encourage a 12 year old to search whatever they wanted.
Also, children shouldn't be focusing on their sexual identity so young. It is okay if they are curious but it really should not be a big deal if they can't access those topics when they are young (say a child under 11-12). I knew I liked girls when I was pretty young but there wasn't a need for me to put a label to myself at the time.
Footballfan seemed to discover that Kiddle adjusted that setting anyways.

Yeah exactly, anything LGBTQ comes up and the websites are great for information. No sex or porn, it's great I'm going to set it as my sister's default browser.

Re: Kiddle: Child-friendly search site bans words including 'bisexual' and 'transgend

Benway, I know what you mean, but the carefree living includes peeing in bushes with your mates, so the question of gender is there for many kids, whatever they like it or not. You might be able to avoid or repress your sexuality until your puberty, but you can't avoid your gender.

... So banning bisexuality... I can understand the reasoning behind it... Now banning all info on transexuality is harmful and I can't understand it. Many kids have no idea what's going on or why they feel like they do.

Bet you they didn't banned 'war' or 'murder' or 'rape', right?
