It's more on the Pop Punk side, but The Story So Far is AMAZING  and Against Me! is really good too.

The ones I listen to are Rage Against the Machine, KMFDM, and Yuppie Pricks, though I've heard that The Pixies and The Pogues are awesome too.
And just a head's up; All of the bands I listed can sound WILDLY different from each other (RATM is more nineties punk, KMFDM is electro/metal punk, and Yuppie Pricks are pretty modern punk with classic influences) but they're all punk and freaking AMAZING.

And yes, I love punk a LOT even though I'm more goth. I just got a mohawk, and I'm looking for a few sets of denim jackets and jeans to tear up and pin/patch/sew back together. The culture, the music, and the more liberal mindsets of the bunch really interest me, and the unique aesthetics tickle my eyeballs. ^_^

I too lean more towards the goth side, but I definitely recommend The Damned, Bad Brains, The Misfits, and hell, My Chemical Romance's first album.

I dig on Rancid, Against Me!, Rage Against the Machine (Wikipedia classifies them as rap metal, but they're punk as fuck if you ask me), The Misfits, and Dead Kennedys to name a few. Really anything that was showcased in SLC Punk!

Green Day is also pretty rad, and I have a new love for their American Idiot album after hearing Billie Joe Armstrong break the tracks down while he worked on Broadway Idiot. Some other punk artists I still need to explore more of are Black Flag, Dead Milkmen, Bad Religion, Social Distortion, and some others I had on my list. But that's just a few.

Here's some for you to check out. Thankfully there's a ton of albums on Youtube that haven't been taken down yet, so get to work on checking the artists you want out before they're gone.

Dead Kennedys - Kill the Poor
Against Me! - I Was a Teenage Anarchist
Rage Against the Machine - Testify
Fear - I Love Livin' in the City
The Exploited - Sex and Violence
    Rancid - Maxwell Murder
Rage Against the Machine - Sleep Now in the Fire

I used to play in a punk band. We even played abroad, that was rad.

Against Me! is my fave punk rock band (I usually don't do punk very much).

First band that comes to mind is Against Me!, but some other suggestions might be Misfits, Savages, or The Thermals

My favourite band that I would consider punkish is Number Girl, though I think they are technically noise-rock. Love Rage against the Machine but again, they're rap-metal with a punkish attitude as someone said, just thought I would join the RATM-loving peeps here. Also quite like Iggy and the Stooges. Ken Mode is an awesome mix of punk and metal. Sleaford Mods are the most hilarious satirical alt-hiphop-punk. I loooove Bikini Kill lol I'm a riot grrrl... very gay of me. I love all these sort of crossover bands and ones with a strange sound, thats sort of my thing, I never really get into more than one band with the same sort of sound. I love a punk vibe but I always want something unique to set a band apart.

The sex pistols. Christ, how has nobody mentioned them yet?

Also quite fond of the buzzcocks and the undertones. And I suppose at a push Lou Reed could be counted as punk to an extent.

Just looked up 'punk bands' on google for the lols, and apparently 5 seconds of summer is 'punk'. Come on people, rock and roll lost its balls along time ago. I wanna be the person to give them back

I have been listening to a lot of riot grrrl (a subgenre of punk rock) lately. The bands I have been listening to are Sleater-Kinney, Heavens to Betsy, Team Dresch (who, by the way, is made up of 4 lesbians and most of their songs are about being LGBT), and I just started listening to Skating Polly today.

Some German Punk Bands are for example Die Ärzte and Die toten Hosen (Well, their old songs). These are the most famous ones. I also like WIZO, Slime, ZSK and Die abstürzenden Brieftauben a lot. Others would be Die goldenen Zitronen, DDP (Der dicke Polizist), Terrorgruppe or Feine Sahne Fischfilet. These are also pretty good.^^
