Technically it's called mixed economy - especially the case with the welfare states in the North.

A more meaningful measure is to see the total tax revenue as a fraction of the GDP. The higher ratio in the world is that of Denmark with 49% followed by Sweden (46%), Belgium (45%) and Cuba (45%). For comparison the same ratio for the US is 27%. The difference between Europe and the US is significant.

This is the worst election year I've lived to see. I think the nation agrees; we need DLC candidates.

Canada needs to get its shit together before becoming president of another country. Not that either of those will happen :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

OH CANADA! OUR HOME AND NATIVE LAND. TRUE PATRIOT LOVE, IN ALL THY SONS COMMAND.

Canada has my vote. It may be my new home if Trump or Cruz become president.

Ugh, I read the question as "Who Would You Like to See as President?" and put Bernie. But I would have voted Cruz or Trump or Clinton otherwise. I love Bernie!

Have no idea, I'm not American. However, I took a test (whilst trying to look for the British one) and it said I most side with Barack Obama ... have no idea what that says about me.

I would least likely want see Trump as president. That being said; I could not bring myself to vote for Clinton either. My distaste for her is as great as that for Trump.

Clinton. I believe she's corrupt and is not capable of telling the truth. She does not have the experience needed to be POTUS. She failed as Sectary of State and as a NY Sen. She also did not support LGBTQ+ rights until it was acceptable to do so. Anti second amendment. All parts of the constitution must be respected and obeyed. Also, don't agree with her tax plan. With the wold in the shape it is we need a POTUS that can handle international crisis and she's proved that she can not handle a crisis. The biggest thing is she sat there and did nothing while americans died. That should be reason enough not to vote for her.

I accidentally put hilary, een though i meant to put trump. I don't know too much about this years race honestly, but it seems so convoluted and contreversial for me to care too much about, and i hear both right and left wings saying that either sider is dangerous, and i don't know who to believe no more. Besides, i live in canada. Bit a lot people hate ted cruz, so i guess he's one if the worst to pick president?

    ---------- Post added 17th Mar 2016 at 10:01 AM ----------

Canada? Soviet union? How? Isn't liberal a good thing, i guess.

Well, i've been hearing a lot bashing the left these days. Eapecially this youtuber called "sargon of akkad". I hear the term "regressive liberal" being thrown around a lot, and it's saying that liberals are trying to take away free speech and make eveything socialist, and put people's races before their character, so that they could get jobs and positions because minorities are "opressed", and that they can't stand crtiticism, or put up good arguments, are idealogues, can't criticize islam, and are basically turning the world socialist, have no sense of humor, and should know better than this, basically.

I guess some of those points have substance, but on the other hand, we can't have people who make racist and homophobic comments feel like what they're doing is right, so i guess calling them out is right, but outright censorship of that stuff isn't. I don't know, I was under the impression that people on the right are mostly anti gay, but now the left is being accused of socialism, so i don't even know and a lot of their commnetators say a lot of things that could be taken as racist or homophobic. Can someone explain this to me kindly?

A lot of people throw around the word socialist without any meaning, hence why some people think Bernie Sanders is a socialist. Socialism, in general, is when the government own the means of production, and most leftists (let alone most liberals) don't want that. Democrats just want to socialize things, e.g. a mixed market economy. Most left-wing people also don't advocate for censorship, the right is just trying to exploit a vocal minority.

Everybody is going to try to make opposing parties look bad, so Republicans will call Democrats socialists (and Bernie isn't helping by calling himself a socialist), and Democrats will call Republicans homophobes, even when neither descriptor is accurate in most cases.

I'd recommend basing your ideology off of issue stances on individual topics, and seeing where they tend to fall rather than listening to pundits who are just trying to polarize and insult.

    Enough said.

A lot of Republicans just call leftists socialists or say that they're anti-free speech as an insult, most of them aren't actually

Ted Cruz. A Donald Trump presidency would be the best thing for the Democratic Party since, well, George W. Bush.

You guys do realize Cruz is 1000x more homophobic then trump right? Cruz wants tore an gay marriage and wants to take all trans people's rights away he wants to bring back conversion therapy to all states and enforce it in schools.

Donald trump on the other hand went to Elton John's wedding in 2005.

I don't really like any of the candidates too much except for Sanders. But I went with Trump. Mostly because I don't think he has the intelligence to run a country. I know, he's a business man and he might do good for the economy (keyword: might), but he's had a number of failed business endeavors, acts like a child, and he open said to defeat ISIS we should commit a literal f*****g war crime. I'm sorry, but I'd rather not have a president who is going to take our foreign relations and break them over his knee while throwing a temper tantrum.
