Is it odd that most of the time I feel like I have a flat chest? I mean once I look down of course I notice but if I am just not paying attention I feel flat chested. Its just kind of a thing that happens not sure if it means anything just wanted to share. I am curious though does anyone else feel this? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I feel that way as well and I got the massive DD fat sacks so you'd think I'd feel them all the time

And then when I am aware if them its usually followed by a feeling of shame and/or disgust and/or anger.

Most of the time I'm aware of *them*, but yeah, sometimes I get that feeling too. And then as Alexander said, it's usually (if not always) followed by a feeling of shame and disgust :frowning2:

That's one of the most common ways people experience dysphoria. I feel that way w/ bottom dysphoria, it's totally normal.

Not unusual at all. Just means your brain thinks you have a flat chest, and that's basically what dysphoria is. I feel that a lot too.

I kinda feel like I'm flatchested enough to pass without a binder, or even pass topless. ...Until I actually see myself topless, ugh.
But I totally get the feeling. (even if I'm lucky enough to be AA)

Aw man sad we have to all go through this (*hug*)

Do cis people experience this as well? One of my friends said most people don't notice their chest so its not really dysphoria.

I don't think it's weird. I feel like that a lot of the time too, which is why those moments when I'm hyperaware of my chest sting even worse.

There's a difference between not thinking about / not noticing your chest and feeling like it's flat. Cis women don't feel like they have a flat chest, they just don't spend a lot of time thinking about it. If you have moments when you genuinely feel like your chest is flat, that's probably dysphoria.

Obviously I know I have boobs, but the mental image in my head is that I am flat chested. Most of the time I feel like I am flat chested, yet I am also aware of the feeling of cloth touching them. At times it just feels like the two lumps under my shirt aren't connected to the rest of me. And as I said earlier, when I do look down and remember they're there I will either feel disappointment, ashamed, anger, disgust, or a mix of those. There are times where I don't care, and times when I laugh at my own silliness for forgetting. Had no idea that that was dysphoria.

Thank you guys for clearing that up! I sometimes do genuinely feel like my chest is flat, never knew something like that could be dysphoria wow.

I experience this sometimes, albiet without any extreme emotional reaction to anything that causes me to notice it's not the case. Just kind of 'huh, oh yeah.'

I'm not sure I necessarily experience this but sometimes I touch my chest, namely the part under my collarbones and it gives me a short feeling of having bigger pecs such as from working out. I think I kind of tend to see myself more muscular than I really am. The same with my legs. I have lots of thigh fat which makes my thighs bigger but when wearing boxer-briefs I can see it as a muscle as if I was a rugby player. :icon_wink

I know what you mean, although I experience it from the opposite direction. I often feel like I have breasts and am flat "down there". I don't think it's that much different than cis people's body issues, except that the mis-match between our self image and our bodies crosses gender lines and creates a lot more anxiety due to cultural/social norms. I believe that if our culture accepted trans people the way others, like Thailand, does then "gender disphoria" wouldn't even be in our vocabulary. People would just be free to express themselves and alter their bodies as they see fit
