Personally I did. I always thought it was a rather common thing, but I'm quite surprised at the amount of people I've asked who said they hadn't. I had quite a few, but I guess that just comes from being an over-imaginative (and possibly quite lonely) kid.

I would make this a poll, but I've no idea how to make one. :eusa_doh:

So has anyone here ever had one? What were they like? Did you have just one or did you have more than one? Did they have a name? ect.

Me and my friends had imaginary worlds with imaginary friends in them. We had imaginary versions of ourselves (even transferring our names to a new language (which was just backwards. Example: "Won thgir nup doog a fo kniht t'nac I" is "I can't think of a good pun right now". The two consonants together would have a vowel sound put between them (usually an I))), and we would visit each other in our imaginary worlds, and these interactions all took place with either an eyes-closed mental link (like going there right before falling asleep), or projecting our worlds onto the real world. My imaginary self also went through several reincarnations/change in characters and some of those eventually became OCs of mine. We would even link already developed fictitious worlds within our little realm of imaginary worlds and ran with that.

I had several imaginary worlds when I was little. When I was in 1st and 2nd grade, I would pretend my Pokemon were in real life with me. But at this age, I didn't actually believe it. I just thought it was fun to pretend.
Then throughout older elementary school, I would make believe about my friends and I going on cool adventures as a team. It was a lot of fun.

Funny thing is I never did. But I did have characters I made up and they we're in a relationship together with friends. I think back about it and wonder if maybe they were my imaginary friends and I often imagined them in story like settings dealing with conflicts like relationship problems and having powers. You'd think it weird. How could a 8 year old possibly know about relationships and social ques. I often after a conflict imagined what they'd do at that moment. I just found out a year ago 2014 that I'my a maladaptive daydreamer and music triggers me. That's why I can walk really long distances with my ear buds in XD

I still do. Though it's more of my alter ego than an imaginary friend. It's fun.

I had an imaginary spider friend who lived in the drain of the sink. When I moved out of my early childhood home, I never "saw" the imaginary spider again, and now I am deathly afraid of spiders

I had two imaginary friends. They were called big and little. I don't remember much else but they were very comforting. I believe I imagined them as younger and older versions as myself. I guess I dropped the creativity ball on that one :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Yes, i've had alot of imaginary friends. I remember thinking that mabye they're was someone else across the world who was exactly like me in everyway except their name abd how they looked like( anyone else?) i still wonder if this person exists...probs not. I also, used to imagine i could take to my grabdfather from the dead...i used to be kinda obsessed with him because i'm named after him, and i thought that was kinda cool. Another imaginary friend i had was a super hero named "oil-scarred hatim" who used to be a billionaire who ran an oil company in kuwait, but got into a freak accident with some "radioactive oil" and became an oil powered robot. He fighted evil, and protected his home, zobah island, and it's all male- dwarf population. When he died, they worshipped him as their god, and his son became their king...( as you can see i have quite the imagination there...) . Abd those are just a few of the many wierd imaginary friends i had/ still have.

I had one named Mr. Pi. He was invisible to everyone, including me. He would always go on business trips, but he never really talked about what his job was.

I did. I thought there was a girl named Sarah in the pipes. I talked to her and turned on the shower to give her water. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I had quite a few, I'll be lucky if I remember them all.

Hmm... most of them were based off characters from books and TV shows/films. I used to pretend to hang out with "Stella the star fairy" from the rainbow magic series, and Princess Leia from Star wars except as a fairy.

I used to arrange play dates for my imaginary friends to meet up with my friend's imaginary friends.

I also had whole entire imaginary worlds thing filled with characters, and we would imagine visiting each other's imaginary worlds when I would hang out with my friends. We would make a certain noise like a whoosh and stuff like that. And when one of us would "visit" our imaginary world, we would pretend to be someone else (which we would call "messengers") and pretend to take messages for ourselves. So for example I would ask my friend if they wanted to send a message to "my name" and then I'd pretend to record it. Sometimes I'd say that the line was busy and that my friend couldn't get through to me. Occasionally, we would put on "timers" on these "messages" so the other person had to say what they wanted to say by the time one of us had counted down from a certain number.

We would create whole personas for these "messengers" and make up a world that was either completely different, or mostly the same as reality except for say one big difference. Like I would pretend to be someone who was from somewhere that had no autumn and my friend would have to explain what autumn was to them (me).

It would often revolve around some sort of problem, sometimes I would pretend to help one of these characters through some sort of issue in their life- the issues we often varied, from helping someone to quit an addiction, relationship woes, and adjusting to everyday life in general.(pretty tough stuff considering we were only in primary school at the time, and probably didn't know what we were going on about).

I would spend a great deal of time making up new characters to greet my friend as we walked to school everyday. Sometimes I would pretend that there were no "messengers" available, or that they weren't co-operating. I would pretend to be "stuck" in my imaginary world sometimes.

We would even send each other leaflets and fake news articles based on these imaginary worlds of ours. We would call the "secret notes" and I think I might have a suitcase full of them hanging about somewhere, but I'm not sure because I might've thrown them out at some point.

Now let's see... who were my other imaginary friends? Well, there was this girl I made up I think her name was Lucy? something like that. And she was on the run from the police for a crime she didn't commit, so I let her "seek refuge" in my house.

I also had a herd of imaginary creatures. They were kind of like dragons, except with two extra wings and antennas. Plus they were a lot smaller, like the size of a small dog. I had loads of them, and I would often pretend to walk with them as they would fly beside me.

Oh, and I would pretend that my nintendogs were real, and I would pretend to walk them and talk to them whenever I would walk down the street.

Oh and there was this arrogant witch I would pretend to hang out with, don't remember much about her though.

And there was also this imaginary cat I would talk to that would "help me" organise my plans for the day and work towards my goals that I'd set for myself.

Yep, I think that just about covers it. Phew.
