Cool.. For me is mostly Metalcore and some NuMetal, but i enjoy death metal, black metal, grindcore and thrash too. Favorite bands. Architects, Killswitch Engage, Slipknot, and Undying
Slipknot is pretty tight. Avenged Sevenfold, Breaking Benjamin, System of a Down, Linkin Park, and Disturbed are all bands that will be found on my iPod. I've also been known to listen to Amon Amarth on occasion.
Yeah first album and Iowa are great, i could listen to them everyday. System of a Down and Linkin Park were my favorites when i was like 14, and i still like them. A lot of metal-fans hate NuMetal, but to me is perfect. Also Deftones is awesome, but i am not sure if i can label them metal
Metalcore and Screamo! Linkin Park, Black Veil Brides, sometimes Avenged Sevenfold, and of course Devil Wears Prada.
Just listened to some of their stuff. I think they qualify as Nu Metal. They have a similar feel to some of Disturbed's material. And I agree! I am a fan of rock and classic rock, and NuMetal has all the head-banging intensity of metal, with the guitar influence and complexity of some hard rock. It's a good blend of both worlds.
Mainly into goth and punk, but I do love metal. Mostly black and death metal, but I also listen to a lot of other subgenres within the beautiful clusterfuck that is metal.
Let's post songs we are listening right now (!) For those into brutal death
Power, prog, thrash, melodic/hard rock Queensryche, Skid Row, Theocracy, Edguy, Dream Evil, Siam Shade, Pink Cream 69, Priest, Onmyouza, Stratovarius, Megadeth.... To name just a few
I don't really understand all the sub-genres perfectly, but... Avenged Sevenfold, Slipknot, Rhapsody of Fire (Power of the Dragonflame! ), Megadeth, Motorhead, etc.
Folk metal mostly: Korpiklaani, Ensiferum, Finntroll, Turisas, Eluveitie, Equilibrium, Arkona, Alestorm, Dalriada, Cruachan, SuidAkra, Bucovina, Northland, Skálmöld, Grimner, Finsterforst, Svartsot, Heidevolk, Týr, Månegarm, Black Messiah. Favourite albums... that's a tough one... I really like Stand up and fight (Turisas), Ur Jordens Djup (Finntroll), Spirit (Eluveitie). But right now I'm listening to a lot of instrumental songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSyItgregkM
I'm not a huge fan, for a simple reason: I don't really like how it sounds. However I really love those "Folk/Pirate/Viking/WhateverAnywayPeopleWillYellAndSayItIsntARealMetalGenre" compilations though. I can listen to them for hours.
I love grunge and a bunch of other stuff that idk how to categorize, I love angry muddy music with lots of growling bass and distorted guitar. Anything that has "headbanging and wanting to smash stuff" as a side effect of prolonged exposure. Top bands are Primus, Ugly Kid Joe, and a bunch of others that would require a long list. Right now I'm listening to Voices by Alice in Chains.
Not as much as I used to be. I used to love Symphonic and 80's Metal. The bands Therion, and Iron Maiden were my favourites. Northern Kings did some very good covers of Tina Turner's 'We Don't Need Another Hero' and Seal's 'A Kiss From a Rose'. Blind Gaurdian is another good one. Right now I really like Unlocking the Truth. They're listed as hard rock/metal. Listen to the newer recordings of them because their current skill level has been a huge improvement. The lead singer's going through puberty so, his vocals aren't the best. Hopefully, you can overlook that. My favourite song by them is 'Monster'. 'Free as You Wanna Be' is another good one. There was a mostly instrumental group from Italy that I was really into for awhile. I can't remember their name. I'll have to look through some of my YT playlists to see if I can find them. They were fantastic at blending multiple genres with metal. They could do it seemlessly. I remember they did Jazz metal and I think, some death or doom metal too. Soul Fly does many generes of metal and often incorporates world music. Orphaned Land. I really like these guys. Their music has a positive message. They focus a lot on religion and it's politics, unity, and peace. I don't think I have a favourite song by them. Everything I've heard, I've liked.
