I have to agree with SiennaFire's statement(s). Christianity has been so hijacked, so changed for selfish purposes, I now pretty much ignore everything that is said about it. And yup I'm atheist. I go to an atheist church, we drink beer, have sing alongs, accept each other with love.

With respect to the three desert religions. Not really specifically what they say about homosexuality. I like what one ~Buddhist monk told me while I was in Thailand. Something like, ~"ah yes the three desert religions......they have a bit of "maturity" to gain until they become more human / humane." I like that.

I think questioning your faith is perfectly normal for LGBT people. For the most part given most religious dogmas are not exactly supportive of LGBT people. I was raised Catholic but have since become agnostic/atheistic.

Personally the way I looked at it was if the church is right about homosexuality being such a terrible sin worthy of condemning someone to hell, then how is the God of that church worth worshiping. If you can be an otherwise upstanding individual and treat others with kindness but just because you want to live your personal life in a way that makes you happy, love who you want to unrepentantly, you are condemned to burn for all eternity. Such a God hardly seems benevolent or just to condemn someone over something so seemingly arbitrary.

Sometimes I heard the olde "it may seem arbitrary to you but it's God's law and man cannot hope to understand God". Which to me just sounds like a classic attempt for people with such views to defend them despite the fact they have no rational argument. They can just blurt out that it doesn't have to be rational so that they don't need to actually defend their beliefs. But even still, how can they claim God is just if so many of his rules for punishment are completely arbitrary to the human experience. So in my mind if the church was right about God, he hardly seemed like the kind of fellow deserving of respect and worship.

Then the other option is that the church is wrong about God and its just a bunch of man made dogmas telling people how to behave, justified by claiming they have some higher "divine" source. In that case, what is the point in continuing being a Catholic, either some other religion has God right or there is simply no God at all. Personally I find pretty much all religious doctrines lacking so I don't ascribe to any belief in God. If there is one and he hates me for not believing in him, praying to him, living according to his arbitrary laws then that is fine by me because he clearly doesn't deserve my respect. I treat my fellow person with respect and try to be a general all round upstanding individual but if God still wants to throw me in hell, so be it, it seems to be where all the interesting people are heading anyway. That is all for naught though as I doubt that there is any sort of personal God anyhow.

don't take this post as trying to insult you for your faith, I understand religion is a very important part of many people's lives. But I just have yet to find any religion whether Islam or Christianity that makes much sense to me.
