Ok, so there are probably a thousand threads about this already, but I couldn't find any so I'm making a new one instead. I love music, but recently I've listened a bit too much to the same stuff and now I'm a bit tired of it. Therefore, I thought I'd make a thread where people can share artists/bands/songs/albums they like! I, personally, have very inconsistent tastes in music. In no specific order, here are some things that I like:

    • AURORA
    • Lana Del Rey
    • Gorillaz
    • Kaizers Orchestra (an AMAZING band, but they only sing in Norwegian)
    • Intro - The xx
    • Marina and the Diamonds (especially the Electra Heart album)
    • Two Door Cinema Club
    • Melanie Martinez
    • The Lovecats - The Cure
    • Daughter
    • Empire of the Sun - We Are the People
    • Stoned - Dido
    • Settle Down - Kimbra
    • A-Punk - Vampire Weekend
    • Bad Girls - M.I.A.
    • Princess Chelsea
    • Wildcat - Ratatat
    • Clair De Lune
    • The soundtrack from Across the Universe
    • Breathe Me - Sia
    • Daft Punk
    • MS MR
I had to cut half the list so it wasn't so intimidatingly long, but if people are interested I can post some more stuff that I like. Anyway, feel free to throw out some recommendations, scream at me over an artist we both like, laugh about my taste in music, or even just listen to some of the stuff I mentioned and never talk to me if you don't want to. The sky's the limit!

I'll give you some of the "new" songs that I've discovered. Tbh 2015 has been a good year for good music for me at least
MIA : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJuFdkMOP20 This is two songs in one.
ATCQ : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiIjRs8M2KY They're celebrating 25 years of PITPR by making remixes from each of the track. I happen to like this one personally than the original.
Fakear: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiIjRs8M2KY French trip-hop artist just released a new song this year.
Grimes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooWkA_-lOHA&index way better than her previous album since I do like a lot of songs here compared to the other one.
Joanna Newsom: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ky9Ro9pP2gc her voice has an acquired taste but I do think she's a lyrical genius
Alessia Cara: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5vUBQBykJ4 Since you like artists like Melanie and Lana you might like this rising star also I'd recommend you to listen to "Here"
Beach House : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTqwzjzQo54&index=16 They actually released two albums this year and it's pretty much a back to back.

Why did I forget Kelela? One of my fave LP's this year tbh: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4-9mYrbXVI This has a Janet Jacksonesque vibe to it.

I dont know if you like "this kind of music", but if you'd like to try maybe a harder sound (rock/metal) I'd recommend these band:
-Avenged sevenfold (nightmare or shepherd of fire)
-Five finger death punch (basically all songs, if you try them, try Under and over it)
-Papa Roach (Hollywood whore/ Last resort)
    -Slipknot
    - Disturbed(I only know their newest album but it's great, especially The vengeful ond and Open your eyes)
    - System of a down (toxycity/Shimmy)
    - Sum 41(more punky rock, try screaming bloody murderer)
-rise against (give it all/prayer of the refugee)

If you like these, just lemme know, I know ALOT more bands

Favorite bands, with some of my favorite songs by them

Rise Against (Injection, Architects, Help Is On The Way, Survive)

Radiohead (Bodysnatchers, Myxomatosis, Paranoid Android, How To Disappear Completely, Optimistic) +Many more

Muse (The Handler, MK Ultra, Stockholm Syndrome, The Small Print)

The album, "Strange Trails", by Lord Huron is really good. Haven't listened to any other music by the guy, but the tracks Way Out There, Frozen Pines, and Meet Me in the Woods are highlights

La Dispute (Woman(Reading), I See Everything, St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Blues, Stay Happy There) The album Wildlife is amazing, easily in my top 10 favorite albums ever.

Cage The Elephant (Telescope, Teeth, Judas, Tiny Little Robots)

MGMT (Flash Delirium, Siberian Breaks, Time to Pretend, It's Working)

Robert DeLong (Happy, Born To Break, Complex By Degree, Feels Like)

Here are some off the top of my head. And while not my favorites, I've been listening to Grimes new album "Art Angels", along with Touche Amore's album "Is Survived By".

THIS. It's easier to list what I don't listen to (country) than what I do. But I'll just list my favorite bands and my top 3 songs by each (with the exception of the last three because all the song names are a mile long):

-Eisbrecher (Fehler Machen Leute, Dein Weg, Kann Denn Liebe Sünde Sein)
-Rise Against (Life Less Frightening, Entertainment, Help Is On The Way)
-Megaherz (Dein Herz Schlägt, Liebestöter, Gott Sein)
-Volbeat (Doc Holliday, Heaven Nor Hell, A Warrior's Call)
-Disturbed (Inside the Fire, Overburdened, The Vengeful One)
-Avenged Sevenfold (Natural Born Killer, Fiction, A Little Piece Of Heaven)
-Amon Amarth (Fate of Norns, Valkyries Ride, Father Of The Wolf)
    -Beethoven
    -Richard Wagner
    -Mozart

And just a few songs that I like that aren't necessarily by my favorite bands:

    -"Trans-Europa Express" - Kraftwerk
    -"Psycho" - Muse
-"Shot In The Dark" - Ozzy Osbourne
