    Sounds about right for Utah.

    The Church runs that state..

Very disappointing. The thing is this judge, having sat the bench for many years, has been able to see first hand how damaging it is for kids in unstable households. He knows that this is the worst thing someone could do to this kid and he doesn't care. Because someone has to stick it to the gays. This decision needs to be overturned and this judge needs to retire.

Good news: It appears that the order has been reversed.

I was hoping this would happen. It's good that it's been reversed, it's just sad that something so absurd had to happen in the first place.

Either way, I guess the fact that he didn't get away with it is a sign of progress?

That's good. It's ridiculous that it happened at all.

Do not know the religious faith of the judge, but Utah consists mainly people of the Mormon Faith - called Mormons for short. Nothing surprises me about the Mormons. In smaller remote cities/towns the practice of disowning and running off young teen males so the "village" elders (old men), the religious elite, can have more young females - yep for breeding. Teen males are not allowed to go shirtless, fearing their bare skinned upper torsal may sexually excite young females.

I'm not kidding you about any of this.

It's absolutely ridiculous that it happened in the first place, but I'm glad to hear that it was reversed.

Umm... Eww. That sounds more like the sort of desperate tribal shit you would expect when the population is dangerously low, not the other way around. And even then, both ways it seems out of place. No wonder the homophobia is so rampant.

It's pretty shocking that this is a common mindset here, I've even seen Mormon propaganda commercials on the television. I simply chose to distance myself from religion entirely and attempt to ignore it, since I can't change it...

And tearing apart a family- people who love each other- is better? So tragic.

It's depressing to think that such a thing could happen in the United States! I'm glad things got worked out though... I can't imagine how upsetting it must be to have one's child taken away from them.

Unbelievable when the bigoted opinions of some judge can tear a loving, stable family apart on NO GROUNDS WHATSOEVER other than his opinions. And that he wouldn't even show his supposed "research" that children do better in heterosexual families and this was still just okay. Ridiculous.
