Like how would you respond to someone like this? I'm kind of thinking that like one of two things. Like if someone on the street was saying things like this or seriously trying to strike up a conversation would the best course of action just be to walk away? Personally I thought a lot of what she said wasn't exactly true. Considering I'm a trans woman that very much has an androgynous gender expression. By no means does "being female" have to do with the way you dress, or femininity, or anything like that. I've only watched 5 minutes, but everything the cis lady says is what trans-exclusionary "feminists" repeat over and over again. I've tried to talk to one of these people before, but to no avail. If I found one of them in real life, I wouldn't be afraid to call them transphobic. I mean, they're literally insulting and denying trans people's identities and experiences in my face, of course I won't stay quiet!
"all transgender people should use the men's restroom" Wait what? How does that agree in anyway with her "gender is defined by your biology" viewpoint? Surely she should therefore be perfectly fine with ftm people using the women's restroom? Oh wait...I forgot...testosterone is the root of all evil :dry:
I will never understand TERFs they ask for equality but then deny others that same request because at birth they were assigned something different or because they have T running through them. Just don't respond to her. She isn't worth the argument that it will create.
I could only tolerate about 4 minutes of listening to that woman speak before I just stopped the video, but I get the point. I've heard the TERF rhetoric a million times. I sometimes try to engage, but it consistently just ends up being upsetting and pointless. I can't convince anyone to change their mind when they have such deeply held beliefs, and it just means submitting myself to listening to someone invalidate my identity and the identity of trans women. It's usually just not worthwhile.
