"I'm not supporting LGBT people because look at the suicide rate in the LGBT community. It's sky high! Being LGBT leads to psychological and emotional problems. They're mentally disturbed and I have a bunch of death statistics to back me up."

Ummm...yeah, the LGBT suicide rate is high, but it's not solely because they are LGBT. It's because of people like you and living in a society that oppresses people who don't conform to their idea of "normal". Being gay, lesbian, bi, or transgender in itself doesn't cause deaths. Are people stupid? :bang:

 

I fully agree with this, Kageshiro.

I am sick and tired of the excuses Christians give to justify being as hateful as they are towards others; especially homosexuals. They will deny they are doing anything wrong, they will deny that they hate you, but it's pretty obvious. The Bible does not actually have any condemnation towards homosexuals; they just read the bias into the text.

I don't hate Christianity; far from it, as I am Christian myself. I fully believe I know enough about Christianity to say that they have no idea what they're talking about in regards to sexuality in general and how God feels about it.

I've gotten, and still get into, many many arguments regarding this subject with other Christians.

 

One girl saying "I don't want to be around lots of gay people cause they might turn me gay, not like I'd ever be gay, but..."

 

The "sex is only between a man and a woman" argument thats popped up in this thread. Also, religion--no offense.

Here's one we were entertaining recently: "maybe a gay person hurt them once."

 

I have this tendency that if I am establishing a friendship with a straight guy, I would let them know that I am gay. By taking this approach, I have gained a lot of respect and the friendship have gotten stronger to the degree that most of them feel they have to protect me or better yet, "screening" guys that wants to have a close relationship with me. However, this one guy in particular would come around a lot just to hang out with me and he started hanging out more once I came out to him. Since he was really handsome, he had women throwing themselves at him as well as guys and while he was visiting me, his phone would go off constantly from all the women who were contacting him. What I immediately noticed was that he had gotten into the habit of turning off his phone whenever he was in my company. Then he had became so comfortable being around me that when we would watch a movie, he would come over and lay on the couch with me and precede to cuddle. Better yet, if we fell asleep, he would lay on top of me and ask me to hold him tight around his waist while he was kissing me on my neck. One day, he came over with an attitude and when I asked him what was wrong...he told me that he needed to stop coming around me because I am trying to make him gay which was really stupid because I never initiated anything sexual with him...he was the one who laid on top of me or wanted to cuddle and grind up against me...not me. After defending myself, I told him that I think it would be best if he did stop coming around me. However, he did not stop which led to us having full on sex every time he came over...haha

This. Maybe it's unnatural for you because you're not gay, but for me, it's as natural as being straight is for you.

It's hard to choose though, because there are so many nonsense reasons...

Also:

"It's against my religion." Because apparently if they believe that, nothing else matters. You can't reason with these people; they're just like, "You're wrong."

"A man and a man, or a woman and a woman can't reproduce." So what? Why is that a reason? That's just how reproduction works. Doesn't make homosexuality wrong.

I think I have the stupidest comment ever made. My Uncle and Grandpa were talking about the gay rights issues, both against it. My Uncle says, "If it were natural why do so many gay teens commit suicide?" :tantrum::tantrum::tantrum:

"Because children with gay parents won't have the right upbringing"
