What books would make a great tv series?

Since books are being adapted left and right, what book or book series should be turned into a show?

I have a few that I'd like, but I must say I'm worried about American Gods. Brian Fuller and everything, but eeh. Neil Gaiman writes for the medium. :x

But although they wouldn't work as a show, I'd love to see some shorts based on Asimov. Or an Elijah Baley&R Daneel Olivaw detective thing. (Someone please tell me this exists and I've just been living under a rock)

Also, I've realised how little prose fiction I've been reading lately. *cries in a corner*

I really want to see a pure screen adaptation of The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire. I know that it was being worked on before Stephen Shwartz recommended that it should be a musical, and after that point it was scrapped.

I'd be really interested in finding out what it would be like XD

I remembered reading the Charlie Bone series when I was younger, and it was great. Very similar to Harry Potter in a lot of ways. I think it can be a really good TV show/movie.

I think it would be amazing if they made a Harry Potter TV show focused on the Marauders or the next generations.

Calvin and Hobbes isn't a book, but I think those comics would be great made into a TV series, or a series of shorts.

Lastly, I haven't read Ranger's Apprentice for ages (and I only really got up to book 3 I think) but it would make a pretty great TV show from what I remember.

Yes!!! Ranger's Apprentice was fantastic, although I only got to book 5, I believe. I feel like it would be a great TV series. I'm imagining something similar to Game of Thrones.

Right?? Somebody should notify the author  I also might go back and finish reading the series, really left it hanging a few years ago.

But yes- GoT style TV show for it would fit really well.

I'd really like to see an adaptation of Giovanni's Room, but I think it's too special to be made into anything other than it's original format/an ebook.

I'm terrified of my favourite books being made into tv series, or movies for that matter.

I never read the book, but it seems like it would be a cute movie.

I was too afraid to read it when I was younger. I saw it at my school's library and I knew that it was a book about being gay, but I never had the guts to check it out for myself.

The Gone series. They were really awesome and would make a great show.

The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan.

    Warriors series by Erin Hunter.

    Wolf Series by Jane Lindskold.

They should really continue the ST: DS9 series involving the books, that'd be great.

The series of books that follow Machiko Noguchi from the AVP series should really be made into a tv series or a couple of movies.

I'd like to see Harry Potter as a TV series honestly. Give it 20 years or so, it might happen.
